Great to know you coach girls junior basketball. Since you know so much more about basketball why don't you write to cal and point out what he needs to do better in your opinion, since your are convinced you're a coach and obviously know better than our obvious coaching situation
Totally agree. We have some defensive issues that I don't know will get worked out this season. Watching Duke tonight it would not be pretty for us to play them before March. Not scared of UNC next weekend because of their lack of outside shooting. Just an observation.

Hey...maybe cal is a genius and he intended to let them run. Maybe he's gonna use that to sell them on a half court set. Maybe he didn't coach them bc he wanted to see what they do on their own. Idk but I can only assess what I saw. Imo I don't see it. I don't see this team being able to punch their opponent in the mouth. They have all the talent in the world but the team seems light. It's not like we have a lot with our upperclassmen. None of them will have a physical impact on a game. Willis? He's light. Mulder strong and tough??? Hawk probably strongest of all and he's a guard. I think hunphries will play tough but he's gonna get knocked around. They have proven to be highly talented and exciting to watch but against teams that have strong skilled players...idk you tell me...is it possible to be fast and light and win it all?? Or do you need strength too??

I pretty sure people say that because our guys typically have a higher ceiling for talent development than other teams as the season progresses.
I see no need for name calling or anything, but I must disagree with you. They did not defend well or shoot well for sure. I think a lot of blame falls at Cal's feet for coaching decisions. Why did Mulder and Jones not play at all? It couldn't have hurt any more than what we were doing. Cal decided not to do a shoot-around that morning and openly regrets that decision and states he went easy on the guys and was overconfident. If think that rubbed off on the guys too. Why did Cal continue to defense so intensely 40 feet out and get burned inside? Adjust and try something else. Some of the blame is on the players for lack of effort and poor decisions in game. Fox decided to start jacking up long jumpers and forgot he was good and driving and getting baskets or the fouls. He could have put UCLA in big foul trouble and changed the game. The point is, everything that went wrong is very correctable. Yes we gave up 97 points at home, but I wouldn't call a 5 point loss getting our asses handed to us. It was always going to be a high scoring game, we knew that going in. We all just thought it would be flipped in our favor. If we had won, would you be on here talking about how in the world did we give up 92 points in Rupp or would you just be saying this was the high scoring game we all thought it would be? We also missed a gazillion easy baskets and misplayed fast break opportunities that just a handful going in would have turned the tide our way. It is very early still with many chances to earn a high seed for the NCAA. We still have UNC and UL to play. Florida and S. Carolina are very decent SEC wins so if we take care of business like we should in our weak conference all will be fine.

This thread is a joke...must be OP's first season watching UK basketball. After Wall had to hit a buzzer beater to beat unranked Miami (OH),After 2011 got crushed in maui and was losing SEC games up until February, after Buffalo or whoever it was kept the game close in rupp in 2012, after 2014 was a mess for most of the season, needing last second shots to beat unranked LSU, after whatever else AND THE EXACT SAME THREAD EVERY YEAR after every one of the mentioned games...you'd think someone would learn a little more about basketball.
Man some of you have to be the same poster with different names. You are comparing apples to oranges there bud. I stand by my comments and even people calling me out say Saturday's game was a coaching debacle. I'm going to stand by what my comments that we don't have it. Whoever Willis or gabriel at the 4 makes this team weak bc they are not a good physical match for a top 10 team. When you look at the college basketball landscape it is evident that this season has tough physical teams. We are young and where we have seniors they are physically weak. When you attack me that shows how disgusting of elements in our fanbase. You don't like what I say? Fine but going after fellow fans does not make you a better fan. Calling me stupid honestly makes you look stupid. It proves what many outside of our fanbase think about us. I think there is enough room here for me to have my opinions and discuss them with people who wish to without the drive by attacks. I read posts all the time I don't agree with but I don't go off stupid this, you're no fan that. When people do that they are either A. Afraid of the opinion or B. Insecure in general. Go after the argument. I could careless about this and what you think about me but I see others relentlessly attacked and have for close to 20 yrs on this forum. At some point people need to grow up and learn the educated way to debate which doesn't include name calling. I mean I could bring a chimp here to type "stupid" over and over again that's how little insight the insecure on here contribute to honest discussion
I believe what we saw Saturday was a combination of many things. This team is still young, several of them were sick, most of them bought into the hype (including Cal), and the coaching was sub-par during the game. To say this team doesn't have it at this point is a little short sighted, in my opinion. I don't expect them to go undefeated the rest of the year but I'll be shocked if they have more than 5 losses come tournament time.
So since you coach at a high level then you must have lost a game to a team that played better that day . Are all your teams undefeated ?

I am so glad I put the OP on ignore like 2 years ago as I know this thread would make my head explode with idiocy if I could read most of it LOL.
I have watched a lot of basketball over the last 40 years and I think this team does have "IT". The only thing that concerns me is there appears to be more teams that have "IT" than I had hoped this season. I think there is a legit 6 teams that have "IT". We played one on Saturday.
