I worked for him in 1969-1972..He was Best Man in my Wedding in 1987 and I celebrated his Birthday (December 17th) the last 20 years til 2008 when he passed..RIP BillI used to work in Lexington, and our group went out for lunch one day to this place downtown. As we were leaving the restaurant, Mr. Keightley walked in with a few others. He was wearing the exact same UK polo shirt as I was. He looked right at me and smiled really big and said, "I like that shirt son".
Thanks Ben I still miss him today..Gone 8 years but never leaves my thoughts..2 Adulterers, or Grover if you please, had a close relationship with him, since Grover was a student-mgr for the BB team. I met him and then spoke with him many times after the first meeting. He was very knowledgeable, likeable, and loved the Cats. He was an "Arnold Palmer type guy" in that once you met him, you felt like he was a friend, rather than an acquaintance. Most of all, and what I liked best, he hated UL as much as I do, which to say, is as much as anyone I have ever met. RIP Mr. Keightley.
and UH kicked BCG's *** that night! It was embarrassing but BCG was good at that.Met him in Houston at the Hilton during a Wildcat rally there when Gillispie was the coach. We were playing Houston that night.
