With all due respect to the great Pat Summit, there are no women's basketball programs that comes close to the tradition of UK basketball.
Tradition infers both time and significance. Pat Summit was a legend but the program has only been significant for 40 years and whether some like it or not, women's basketball will never have the following to allow it to match men's basketball. So, in my opinion, I have no idea why anyone would even bring it up unless they are trolling.P. Summitt was the greatest.

Sexist..Women's basketball is a completely separate entity from men's basketball, or, basketball. summit was a great and legendary coach, and rightfully so, but to hear her referred to as the winningest basketball coach in D1 basketball, while technically true, is overlooking the fact that she was a coach of women's basketball.
Women's basketball only evolved into a full-court game in the 1960's. if i'm wrong about that i'm sure someone will set me straight.
I don't mean to show disrespect but women's basketball is women's basketball and men's basketball is basketball.
Duke and North Carolina have to be given consideration. Give credit where credit is due. Both have 5 NCAA titles. Both have only 1 NCAA Major Infraction. Both have excellent academic reputations. Plus, NC has beaten us several more times than we've beaten them. Just sayin'

One post in seven years and this is what you come up with? UNC-CHeats and 'excellent academic reputation' will never fit in the same sentence again. As for 'major NCAA infractions' you apparently don't consider the worst cheating scandal in NCAA history a taint -- virtually the entire 2005 NCAA championship team being given fake grades to stay eligible was just a clerical error I suppose. And if you COMBINED all the categories in which those two programs were 1st or 2nd all-time in NCAA basketball, you wouldn't touch Kentucky's list.Duke and North Carolina have to be given consideration. Comparing women's basketball to men's basketball is like comparing apples to bananas.P. Summitt was the greatest.

I think gyno Auriemma will surpass pat summit
Didn't you just get off academic probation? Your reputation now is being a bunch of lying, cheating dirt bags. Did you think we forgot? We'll not let you forget.I (and a host of others) beg to differ ...

Lol that shows how much women's BB I watchHe already has. Guy has 11 titles to Summit's 8 and beat her everytime he played her in the NCAA Tourney finals with a 4-0 head to head record. The total wins will follow soon enough.

That's ok. K passed Rupp but that doesn't diminish Rupps greatness. A terrible disease stole a decade of coaching from her. She could have reached 1400 wins. Geno coaching until 70 would only get to around 1200-1250, just for comparison.I think gyno Auriemma will surpass pat summit
He may win more games than Pat, but he will never have the character and integrity that Pat had.He already has. Guy has 11 titles to Summit's 8 and beat her everytime he played her in the NCAA Tourney finals with a 4-0 head to head record. The total wins will follow soon enough.
thisBack to the ONLY topic of integrity in this thread: Coach Pat deserves all the praise and honor today. She did it right and is the greatest women's basketball coach ever. Salute from my heart, Pat.
