Only hoops tradition greater than UK.

Goes to show you how hard titles are with the tournament format. Pat had 8 titles in almost 40 years where she dominated the sport. Many final 4s

That what kills me when fans complain about UK doesn't have more. We have 8 by five different coaches. That says something for the program. Also it is hard to get through the gauntlet of NCAA tourney when everyone is giving their best shot

P. Summitt was the greatest.
Tradition infers both time and significance. Pat Summit was a legend but the program has only been significant for 40 years and whether some like it or not, women's basketball will never have the following to allow it to match men's basketball. So, in my opinion, I have no idea why anyone would even bring it up unless they are trolling.

With all due respect, no college program, mens or women, can touch UK basketball. Hell, the only NBA jobs I'd say are on level with UK would be the Celtics and Lakers. Now that all of that has been said, Pat is still one of the greatest coaches of any sport that's ever lived.

Women's basketball is a completely separate entity from men's basketball, or, basketball. summit was a great and legendary coach, and rightfully so, but to hear her referred to as the winningest basketball coach in D1 basketball, while technically true, is overlooking the fact that she was a coach of women's basketball.
Women's basketball only evolved into a full-court game in the 1960's. if i'm wrong about that i'm sure someone will set me straight.
I don't mean to show disrespect but women's basketball is women's basketball and men's basketball is basketball.

Duke and North Carolina have to be given consideration. Give credit where credit is due. Both have 5 NCAA titles. Both have only 1 NCAA Major Infraction. Both have excellent academic reputations. Plus, NC has beaten us several more times than we've beaten them. Just sayin'

Pat Summit was a great coach, RIP, we got a long list of great coaches, in my eyes no school is greater than UK, no fanbase, or coach, no disrespect to coach Summitt:popcorn:

One post in seven years and this is what you come up with? UNC-CHeats and 'excellent academic reputation' will never fit in the same sentence again. As for 'major NCAA infractions' you apparently don't consider the worst cheating scandal in NCAA history a taint -- virtually the entire 2005 NCAA championship team being given fake grades to stay eligible was just a clerical error I suppose. And if you COMBINED all the categories in which those two programs were 1st or 2nd all-time in NCAA basketball, you wouldn't touch Kentucky's list.

One Old Soldier might consider just fading away, to quote another old soldier.

Comparing women's basketball to men's basketball is like comparing apples to bananas.
They're both good in their own way as long as you like them but it is two completely different sports!

Back to the ONLY topic of integrity in this thread: Coach Pat deserves all the praise and honor today. She did it right and is the greatest women's basketball coach ever. Salute from my heart, Pat.

Don't take this wrong if you are a veteran but whenever that subject comes up on this board and it comes as if a UK fan is posting it (using the term us). I have doubts that you are a UK fan with that one single post. But I've been wrong before.

From the Lance Armstrong book of morals and character:

Top 100 universities that use ***** whores for sex parties in their
hallowed dorms to seduce teenage boys:

Louisville = 1
Anyone else = No mention

I agree, this and unc not being top ten truly shows an injustice.

Lol that shows how much women's BB I watch

Yeah, to be fair he's been on fire of late post-Summit retirement. Women's b-ball is a joke nowadays as UCONN is a near lock to win it every year. It's like what UK would be like under Cal if Cal had his studs for 4 years.

I think gyno Auriemma will surpass pat summit
That's ok. K passed Rupp but that doesn't diminish Rupps greatness. A terrible disease stole a decade of coaching from her. She could have reached 1400 wins. Geno coaching until 70 would only get to around 1200-1250, just for comparison.

He already has. Guy has 11 titles to Summit's 8 and beat her everytime he played her in the NCAA Tourney finals with a 4-0 head to head record. The total wins will follow soon enough.
He may win more games than Pat, but he will never have the character and integrity that Pat had.

19 of the 35 Women's College titles being won by 2 schools doesn't make it any more interesting.

honestly, if it weren't for Coach Summitt, women's basketball wouldn't be what it is today. Just my opinion.
