A head scratcher for sure. I hope Cal isn't cavalier about it. Not sure slice isn't a little turmoil waiting to happen. Not sure in his business position-wise hopping a lot is smart unless it's him staying ahead of something....just thinking out loud. No insight...

Can't say I feel sorry for him. You don't trade Camelot for a slumland, even if the slum is run by one of your supposed best friends.

He was naïve to leave Kentucky.

St. John's has become a joke of a program and just keeps hiring mediocre coaches every three years. DePaul, which is a similar program, both in the middle of big cities has become even more irrelevant.

Slice is a really good guy. Had the opportunity to meet him a few times. One of the most personable people you'll come across. Was told that Mullins wasn't totally pleased about the recruiting class especially Alkins decision to go out west and Heron's decision to go to Auburn. Not to mention they invested a lot of time into Thon Maker and we all know how that ended up. Slice was supposed to real in a big fish. Although the got Ponds, there biggest pickups were transfers that will have to sit out a season.

No no, St Johns is really, they're like, so pretty soon,...yeah, they suck.

Slice could have been one of the most over rated coaches in UK history.
In the one year Slice was recruiting for UK..
1. We bring in Briscoe..a solid but not great PG
2. Skal...we know how that one turned out
3. Matthews...solid player but not elite and eventually left
4. Murray was a late addition and was 100% Cal
5. Wynard...a total mystery
6. Humphries...a late addition after losing out on many bigs.

We missed in Diallo, Zimmerman, Newman and Brown. The year after Slice leaves we reel in Fox, Monk, Bam, SKJ, Gabriel and only major miss was Bolden inside. I'm sort of not missing him and think we're better off w/o him.

It's easier to recruit to Ky than St. John's. Mullin has an uphill battle and unfortunately for Slice he's the first casualty.
