St. John's and Slice Part Ways

They offered him the associate head coaching position in his backyard practically. Leaving was a tough decision for him. He understood he was leaving a chance of a lifetime at UK. I'm sure it didn't go how he expected. Also from what I understand, him leaving had a little part of Zimmerman not coming here.
While i'm sure that is the case and did help bring Briscoe to Kentucky, but let's not act like Cal wasn't the biggest reason Briscoe is here at Kentucky. I do believe Briscoe would have came here with or without Slice being his lead recruiter. Slice was just the "IN" Cal needed to close the deal. Without Slice at Kentucky, it means Cal would have just had to work harder to get the kid at Kentucky. With Cal i never doubt the man in recruiting. It was a dumb move by Slice to leave Kentucky for St Johns. Once you are at a school like Kentucky, you don't leave there for a school that isn't as successful. If it's your friend coaching that school, that should mean it's even more obvious you don't make that mistake. You never mix friendship with business in any job. It usually ends bad. With Slice leaving, it was and continues to be his loss. We will always be able to find good assistant coaches to hire. Slice might never get the chance to coach at a school like Kentucky ever again. Those type of job offers just don't come along everyday in college basketball.
