Dikembe sent out a tweet "Congrats to the Sixers on the #1 pick" or something along that line. He has since deleted it. I guess the lottery special isn't live.

An Alaska cruise is incredible - adventurous excursions at every port

We go on a Caribbean cruise at least once a year and just go for the actual ship as we hardly get off at the port unless we do a beach or a rushing river excursion. The kids are always busy on a ship and always something to do

We are doing a Mediterranean cruise this fall after spending the first 4 days in Barcelona. A cruise seems perfect for hitting the coast of France and Italy, do cool excursions during the day then drink and gamble while on to the next port. Only regret is we will only get 2-3 hours at the Vatican.

Budapest is pretty dope. Easy to get around with the trams and very walker friendly. If you can stay at the Marriott over looking the Danube or the Hilton on the other side, they have spectacular views. Only bad thing is that is where a lot of the Viking River Cruises depart from and the damn blue hairs can wear you out in the hotel lobby.

But the street markets, outdoor restaurants, etc., are fantastic. Catch an open air bus with the hop on / hop off, listen to the history tour through the headset, lots of history you never realized.

Plus it's cheap.

Wife was the same way about Paris after our first trip. Rained the whole time and was cold, which I thought kind of added to allure but she was ready to go the entire time. Second trip there she fell in love with the place when we weren't trying to fit everything in and just wandered around.

Next trip for us is Iceland on NYE

Wife had never been to Europe and wanted to make the trip before kids....3 weeks is all we had and she wanted to see everything. Mid 90's so internet planning wasn't really an option--so we did the Bus Tour. Huge mistake, we still call it the trip from Hell.

Alaska, drive it. Fly into Fairbanks, rent a car, work your way slowly south to Seward or points beyond based on how long you can afford to spend. (Or go North/South.) Watching the cattle herded on/off buses to and from the boats in large groups made me really appreciate my decision to drive. Just realize it's a totally different vacation--there's virtually nothing in the "cities", ie. Anchorage/Fairbanks, everything there is out in the great wide open. Can't imagine being locked into a few select tourist spots. If I could afford the time and the money, I'd go right back this summer.

Back to lurking.

Welp. There it is. BBdK is now the foremost expert on European travel.

Next, he'll mutter out some line referring to it as a "second home."

Predictable.

What exactly have I said that indicated that? [eyeroll] (nothing) My entire post and trip review was the opposite of being any "expert" on Europe.

...was just laughing at Padre trying to get to RUSSIA, before he even got his wife to entertain Europe.

Loving this May weather!!!!

It's unreal. Remember this next time you winter loving bastards are freezing your *** off.

Heading to a tiki party in a few.

-Rick Steves is a dbag, TS. Lonely Planet ftw (imo)

-Iceland sounds cool AF, looking forward to that recap. That place pops up all the time when researching cool places to visit.

I wish I was a Schembari.

I've been to Germany twice. The first time in 2004 during Mid December primarily in Bavaria. It was fantastic and spoiled me. The very next year also in mid December I went to the old East German side. Totally creepy. I mean I know it was under Soviet control for 40 plus years but this was 15 years after the wall fell. Felt like I traveled back in time. I'll never forget coming around a curve on the Autobahn and see a massive amount of the old Soviet block housing complexes. It was really surreal.

But Bavaria is dope as hell.

I've heard old East Germany is still like that. I've been to Frankfurt twice but have never gone into the former East German side.

Start non-chalantly watching 'Ronin' once every few weeks within ear shot of your wife doing the darning or whatever.

Eventually, she will fall in love with Paris, full-stop.

Tiki party? Surely you jest.

Is pretty much prime hot tub temps right now, only silver lining I see.

Germany is great, I'm way overdue to return. Remember seeing tons of boat tours/cruises on the Rhein. Looked pretty dope. Never made it east, pretty much mainly Bavaria, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf...would like to see Berlin.

Flying to Fairbanks and renting a car sounds like possibly the worst vacation advice I have ever read, short of "Have you seen Kabul in the autumn? Breathtaking!"

Chumps conspiracy theory thoughts after the Sixers beat out the two best franchises in NBA history for #1?

-LeBron has won 17 straight series vs. the East. That's pretty incredible.

Only been to London and Norway. Of course both were when I was 19 (won a few online poker tournaments and won a 10k package for a NLH pro tournament), so I didn't get the full experience, especially London as I was playing poker 2 of the days. #nosohumblebrag

But Norway was touching awesome. Had a former exchange student who lived with my family from there, and he basically gave my brother and me a tour of the county over a week. Took a "cruise" up a fjord that was gorgeous, and a blast. Concerts, soccer games, fishing at his family's cabin. Damn I need to get back there.

Headed to Rio next week, then Australia in July (running marathons on both trips). Will be my 4th and 5th continents. Antarctica in January and Africa next summer to finish off all 7.

Simmons has become the ultimate "so overrated he's underrated" guy. Dude averaged 19/12/5 as a freshman. He could be a cross between Lamar Odom and Derrick Coleman minus the crazy. Even on the low end of that comparison, that's a helluva nice player to have on your team.

I copied and pasted your entire trip rundown and emailed it to her. She's been wanting to do London/Scotland for a while.

My problem is her idea of Europe is a week at EPCOT. :grimace:

I will say, if you get some real prime cuts, be mindful on the grill. The higher fat content will cause them to flame up and cook faster. True story

I can always count on wcc to make me feel good about myself when I'm feeling insecure from the cosmopolitan nature of this thread. He's always been good for that. Thanks buddy!
