Ok my official prediction on and off topic is that Monday or Tuesday it'll be announced that ESPN will air Bolden's announcement on Thursday. By Friday I will have sandwiched What About Bob between 4 Leslie Nielson movies and I'll be moving into Mel Brooks.

It maybe slow, but that stuff is changing. duke is about to be 2nd choice for all the top pick guys. Cal is just getting amped up. The best in recruiting is leaning toward Cal.
And that's just insane if you think about it. He's been here for 7 years, and if he's just now hitting his stride, wow...could he slap together a dynasty? Man the future is always bright with this guy at the helm.

And if anyone remembers the taxi scene and is familiar with the city of Louisville, you DON'T cross the bridge to Indiana to get to the airport. Trivial I know but fun for the natives.
Yes, was going to bring that up
laugh at that every time I watch it

Steve had some good ones. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was my favorite. The Man With Two Brains was underrated.

Agree about Man With Two Brains. I loved his early stuff. He's one helluva banjo player, too! I remember buying one of his albums--- it had comedy on one side, banjo playing on the other. I wore out the banjo side. Just beautiful music.

Caddy Shack and Stripes go in there as well.

And Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Movies that make you laugh just thinking about them!
I think we need to add the National Lampoon's movies too. European vacation, Christmas vacation and Wally world are must see if you haven't already.
I love me some Chevy Chase.

I presume you've heard Foggy Mountain Breakdown - Earl Scruggs and Friends? Steve was playing the banjo in it:

And the Caddieshack movies. If you haven't seen all movies listed in this thread you should be ashamed.
When I dropped the "Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" line I never thought I would have to explain it.
but it made it fun - so thanks for that [winking]

Can't agree that Skal has shown anything that suggest he will be a top 10 big in the NBA EVER. He played well in some Allstar camp practices and scouts went over board with him and some still hold out hope that the kid that was 19 and outplaying 18 and 17 year olds is the real deal over the 19/20 year old who played against men and looked historically overwhelmed

Skal is insanely talented . Kid could be a top 10 big man in the NBA in 5 years as he can do it all except play with toughness . Briscoe is a guard who hasn't proven he can make a shot and worse ( much worse IMO ) is he hasn't proven he can make a free throw . it is one thing not to be able to make a 3 well as there are a decent number of pg who cannot shot great from 3 in the nba but they make 70% from the line . Also he isn't a great athlete . Briscoe can come back and as long as he shoots like he did his senior year in HS ( 35/72% respectively ) he will be a top 25 pick next season.

Is this sarcasm?

No, not at all.

Must we encourage him?

"No need to watch. Murray is 100 percent going to Oregon."

"Bolden to UK." *momentum shifts towards Duke* "Bolden to Duke."

"Bolden to Duke. Our class is complete."

"Murray to Oregon. Nike is sending Coach K top recruits, but sends Murray to Oregon. UK - Calipari are pissed off."

Actually, I saved another Z71 zinger about Murray. Here it is, word for word.

"OREGON will be the choice. cal recruited as hard as he could have on this one. even had some help but relationship between whole murray camp with Oregon staff won out. would have thrived at UK . GOOD LUCK . Dave keep posting please you have good info. the assistant was talking about Briscoe. we will be fine. this recruiting year wont happen again. so we have to settle for the #1pick , #1pg , juco all American , great role player in Mathews and a bull in wynard. were fine . 16 will be nuts. a lil nugget kobi simmons is a lock and don't count out uk for giles."

Serious question: What is the diff between Skal and Briscoe in potential ? Skal getting lottery projections with a weak UK showing. Briscoe was putting up an effort @UK. Really confusing.

No, I don't believe that is a serious question. Nope! Do not believe that. Just not gonna believe that someone would seriously ask that question. I just can't lower my expectations anymore by believing that.

If it happens, what does this mean for SKJ? He could end up starting over Bolden.

SKJ has very good future potential but he will not start over Bolden Bolden is a back to the basket, rebounder, shot blocker who can run the floor and score in the half court. SKJ is a face up stretch 4 who needs a lot of time in the weight room

Good stuff! I knew Martin played with a group at one time, and I remember seeing this performance somewhere... can't quite recall when/where, though. Maybe it was on an old Letterman show, since Paul Shaffer was part of it?

Okay... I'm gonna use this as an excuse to post one last quote from The Jerk:

I am liking our chances. The more I think about it, Estill and Bolden are kind of similar. We could use an Estill type player. Bolden has a suspect handle, so pivot moves involving ball handling will have to improve, but otherwise, he has a soft touch with either hand and will score. Estillish.

Actually Boldens handles in the post is far from suspect, it's very advanced which is why he's the best back to the basket post player in the class. He takes the right amount of dribbles to get into great scoring position and usually score due to moves and his Rudy Gobert like wingspan

You must be excluding Cousins because Bolden is good on the block but he's not as good as Cousins was at the same stage

QUOTE="ralphdaltonfan, post: 4494660, member: 676"]Bolden signs with UK--he'll start and be the best low post scorer Cal has had. Not best Center (that's KAT) but best low post scorer-think of it this way--the moves that Kenny Payne had to really instruct the other kids, Bolden already possesses offensively--he needs work on defense (most HS bigs do) but he also did a great job of improving his shot blocking this year--the rebounding/toughness would be next step--especially out of area Rebs but he's a tremendous offensive talent and would start.

Also--not sure why UK fans are not more excited about next year's team. As a friend of board and lot of UK fans, I just tend to look to Cal's reaction/comments for how he views the potential of his team. This year--he liked them IF........and when a Coach says "IF" a lot--then certain things have to happen. He's talking about going to WAR--if you know coaches and especially Cal--that's sign #1 he loves his team--warriors are what Cal's best teams are about. Kids that play hard on BOTH ends and aren't asked to play hard have a way of carrying the 50/50 kids to their side or approach to the game. Fox, Monk, Gabriel, SKJ, and symbol of this style BAM, are warriors. If Briscoe returns--he's a warrior. Hawkins plays hard. That is what Bolden needs-but he's got frame and talent to adapt to that--which takes him from great offensive post to great player. Willis would benefit greatly as well and you have kids like Matthews, Humphries, and Wynyard who can practice against this daily and be ready for a chance to shine following year when the next wave hits--and '17 class isn't as deep/talented as this one.

2016 is a special HS class that will make CBB great for some time--due to the depth of talent and fact that kids staying will make programs better with so many talented guys. '17 UK class will be fantastic but a lot of youth/less NBA talent--especially at guard spot. Just enjoy this group/team because it has chance to be Cal's best defensive team ever--and if you disagree--he said that--not me. lol

Size, Speed, Length, Athleticism, Fight/Toughness, and at all spots. That is special. You land 6 of the top 15 prospects in country (Killeya Jones is being massively undersold and those laughing at idea of Gabriel being best NBA prospect will be surprised where UK takes his development/game-not saying he will be because I love the trio of Bam/Fox/Monk--think it's best trio Cal has ever signed) if Bolden signs with UK--and he'll be better for it. Not a knock at all on Duke-just a better UK fit for his development and playing time wise.

This happens and you need to really get excited for '16-17 Season because it's about to be the best group Cal has signed (again--he said same thing--I go by his thoughts because he's a HOF for reason) and they have an approach that fits what type of team he loves coaching. You may not shoot well, may not play well every game, but you can play hard/go to war every night and that will get you through a lot of those games that UK lost last year (UCLA, Ohio St, Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy,). If last year's team wins those games--they likely have different route in March--and don't get shipped out to Des Moines. Next year if you take care of business, the path is Indianapolis to Memphis to try and get to Phoenix and that is a lot more BBN friendly. See how a few games where effort is not certain can change a season? Just how things go and next year you'll need to because deeper group of elite teams so good luck and hope you all are happy when Marques decides.[/QUOTE]

Skal and Briscoe are complete opposites of each other. One is tall and has a great offensive game but he lacks in the strength / toughness department. the other is a 6'3 guard who is strong and tough as nails but is offensively challenged. So anyone like visitor comparing their draft potential is way beyond stupid

You might be too young to remember but Ray Jackson was a freak athlete with a 41 inch vert. J. Howard was the only one who wasn't an elite athlete but his post game was on Demarcus Cousins level and had a midrange game. Best comparison would be a more aggressive better post game version of Trey Lyles. Fab 5 takes it because they were proven and went to the title game twice against wayyyyyyy better competition than any UK class will face due to guys staying in college longer plus each had NBA size and skill as well as potential

I wouldn't put the Fab 5 is the same class as UK's 2016 class in terms of athleticism and it's not even close. Ray Jackson and Juwan Howard were average at best athletically; Rose, King, and Webber were athletic freaks. Monk, Fox, Bam, Killeya-Jones, and Gabriel is the most athletic class I've seen. From a skilled standpoint, Fab 5 might have the advantage.

Willis had a great season last year. I'd imagine he'd win many Most Improved awards if they ever existed. But he still has a ways to go. Cal loves defense and motor.. Gabe has plenty of that, Willis is still finding it. I'm not sure who the starting 5 will be, but it won't be Willis unless there are drastic changes in his game over the summer.

We need Willis to come off the bench.
We need Willis to play.
