The fact that Dick "HOOPS" Weiss even tweeted about it means it's catching attention outside the state. Heck, Hoops usually tweets about things a good four weeks after they happen, so he's really on the ball here.

Little disappointed someone in here (specifically Adrian) hasn't started subtly mocking Weiss by tweeting about things that happened a long time ago, followed by "@BlueStarMedia1."

A good rule of thumb to apply to collegiate sports is probably this: if you can assemble a team of non-student athletes from campus, male or female, to compete with, and most likely dominate the Varsity team at its respective sport, the sport is probably not worth continuing.

Women's basketball is the only instance I can think of where this is reality. I mean, a team full of males pulled out of the WT Young Library isn't going to beat the women's soccer team. Or golf team. Or volleyball team. But on any given night the women's basketball team would get boatraced in a pickup game at The Johnson Center.

Disband the program and return all uniforms, small basketballs, and athletic apparel to UK for the 2017 surplus equipment sale imo.

You'll likely never find out what is going on with the program as Mitchell makes all the girls sign a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for being released to go anywhere. Man has a huge ego. He's lost 7 assistant coaches in 3 years and more than one has said all he wants is kudos and doesn't want anyone to disagree with him. He's also very, very belittling to the players. Coaches are generally ******** at some level, but he apparently goes over well over the line.

Is this run of the mill #Scuttlebut or #JuicyScuttlebut?

The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity will be absent from the UK Greek community until at least 2021. They received the five-year suspension for hazing pledges, performing activities such as:

  • Forced alcohol consumption to the point of vomiting with either warm/skunked Colt 45 called “Ring of Fire,” and a concoction called “Riptide.”
  • Lineups in the basement of the fraternity that often involved yelling or verbal abuse.
  • Pledges were not allowed to sit on furniture, not allowed in certain rooms of the fraternity house.
  • Pledges performed calisthenics in/around vomit.
  • During initiation week, pledges were forbidden from their place of residence, showering or using their cell phone.
  • Pledges were forced to watch gay porn.
All of those violations were from a report by Denise Simpson of the Office of Student Affairs. Phi Psi confirmed that all of the violations took place, primarily in the fall of 2015.

It’s not “rolling toilet paper around a man and lighting him on fire” level hazing, but it’s still some pretty serious stuff.

It's such a different world these days.

Nice dig though on the SAE's.

PS. I cut and pasted this.

That honestly sounds like some sort of bs backroom underhanded shenanigan that would get a coach immediately fired. Does anyone have actual confirmation on this nonsense?

A non disclosure agreement???

Uhhhh....is this even allowed? Sorry, but that doesn't pass the wcc smell test at all.

I haven't seen one in person but I've heard about it from multiple people. Don't talk about the goings-on of the program and don't say anything disparaging about UK and you're free to go wherever you want.

Two of the girls who left were actually dismissed due to drug-related issues, one on heavy street drugs, one addicted to prescription painkillers so those I understand. Neither ever played a minute. It's the other 4 plus all of the assistants leaving and recruits backing out that is alarming.

College kids are stupid. They'll sign anything. I'd love to see Mitchell actually try to enforce one of those damned things if someone breached it. What a great look for him to sue a former player. Would play really well on the recruiting circuit.

Unfortunately, 18-19 year old kids who don't have 2 nickels to rub together usually aren't going to challenge authority in this case if it threatens being able to play the game they love and the ability to go to school for free.

Eddie Gran’s new pro-style system brings completely new terminology and a new, pad-popping running style to the offense. They picked up things well during the three-day install period . . . they added a few kinks to the system he didn’t expect to get to until the summer.

Luckily, he’s got a good group inside. “It’s a really smart group, ”

Drew Barker consistently improved upon his game. Even though he struggled early on with decision-making and ball security, once he learned more of the offense, things started coming naturally.

After throwing an interception late in the second quarter, back responded by leading a two-minute drive that finished with a ‘crazy’ throw.

Mark Richt, Chuck Pagano, Lane Kiffin and Bobby Petrino
were a few names he threw into the mix when elaborating on how his style has progressed throughout the various stops of his lengthy coaching career.

Achieving Spring Game Goals
They did what they came to do:

“We were out there to make sure that nobody got hurt. We were out there to look right, like a dang football team. We were out there to see if we’ve gotten better and I think that’s what we did.”

It’s taken some time for him to figure out the play-calling thing, but after three years of trial and error at Cincinnati, he’s ready to roll.

:boxing:[banana]

If that doesn't convince you we're turning the corner this year, I don't know what will (maybe the new tailgating stalls?). Take it to the BANK.

Okay. So, just to confirm, the forced signing of a non disclosure agreement, particularly as a bargaining chip in order to grant a release, is a complete horseshit rumor that you're just perpetuating?

Got it.

This might shock you, @PTI (pti) , but this is a message board and everything is rumor until confirmed. I don't make it a habit to hang out with 18-22 year olds, so I would have no reason to have seen it directly. What I have heard is from people close to the program and not just a single person but multiple. It's probably not a full bore NDA like you and I have to sign with our employers or with vendors, but chances are it's some kind of good faith agreement so as the program's reputation doesn't get soiled by anything that comes out. In exchange they get a full release. Probably not really enforceable, just like many agreements you sign with your employer or atleast very difficult to prove unless you're outright blatant, but it keeps most people in check.

That said, all of this started having nothing to do with the players. It has to do with Mitchell and his behavior on and off the court. People just decided to distance themselves from it.

Hazing is dumb. Only the real douches get a kick out of that stuff. Never understood it.

Figure you wouldn't, cupcake.

As it was explained to me when I rushed, " I wouldn't ask anybody to do anything I wasn't willing to do."

Obviously there are idiots, and some people take it places it doesn't need to go...but you are suppose to earn your place in the circle. This entitled culture we live in today disgusts me. What is anything worth if everyone can just casually do it?

Life ain't fair and the world is mean. The sooner you figure that out, the better off you'll be.

Yes, there is a lot of message board clutter, innuendo, and sorting thru half truths and rumors, but you lose that crutch WHEN YOU STATE SOMETHING AS FACT.

The thing about frat hazing is that at least 90% of the time, there are homoerotic undertones to it. Do sororities threaten their pledges with gay sex acts? I mean, that would be awesome, but I highly doubt it happens.

Actually quite the opposite Goose, as much grief as I have taken I don't owe y'all ****.

Been fun watching ladycat try to nail it though.

*sexing coaches
*sexing players
*belittling and berating players
*forcing them to sign not to disclose agreements

Good stuff.

Unfortunately, much like women's basketball, the truth is very underwhelming and boring.

The idea of having a player enter into some sort of confidentiality agreement in exchange for a release to transfer to another school is interesting. Certainly a business would do the same, i.e. if an employer were to release an employee from a non-compete obligation it would be reasonable to get something (confidentiality, non-disparagement, etc..) in return as part of a separation agreement. It might be a little heavy handed to have a college student sign something similar, but it probably would be a valid contract.
