Keep gloating OJ. The glove will fit this time. NCAA is not going to be made a fool Every department will suffer

Don't let Bobby get to you. He received a UNC level education so he can't understand the reason he wasn't right. Something completely different has happened than what he was arguing.

This is what's amazing about the ANOA. Imagine I were prosecuting you for embezzlement and had loads of supporting evidence. In a last ditch effort to appear cooperative and perhaps get the charges reduced, you turn over a minimal amount of additional evidence to me right after the charges are filed.

I take that evidence and then decide to voluntarily throw out 55% of the evidence I had previously gathered. I then also decide to drop the charges to petty theft. That is essentially what has occurred here.

The NCAA has removed over half of the evidence previously used to support the allegations. In doing so, they have also then removed the extra benefit charge from the activities of the academic support staff. That's unprecedented. I would love to know the machinations that lead to this.

Regardless of what happens next, we can at least take solace in the fact that It has been demonstrated that UNC is both the dirtiest and the most hypocritical athletic department of all time.

One last note. Unless I missed it (and I may have as I haven't had a chance to read the NOA closely yet), I find it very curious that the 12 hour limit charge vanished from the NOA. Very curious to know what happened there, especially in light of the documents Dan Kane published a few weeks ago.

Guys the NCAA let UNCheat investigate themselves!! What did you really think would happen? The only solace in it all is now everyone knows that the Carolina Way is to cheat and then like a coward throw the women's team under the bus instead of manning up. I don't like Louisville but at least they had a pair to say we messed up and we will suffer the consequences. Duke and UNC either do not cooperate in the investigation or get a dream team of lawyers and weasel out of it. For that I commend the U of L administration and will forever call Duke and UNC what they are lowlife, cowardly cheaters.

Such twisted pride and arrogance celebrating the perceived virtue of corruption is obscene and an insult to human decency. Our conscious is clean, but you'll forever be a shameless POS living a legacy of the most disgraceful, egregious cheating scandal in history. And we won't let you forget it.

While many of us on here will appreciate your use of the English language in addressing this carolina supporter, said supporter will not be able to understand what you are saying here.

Let me make clear, I'm not surprised the basketball program is going to skate. I NEVER thought they'd lose a title or have to vacate seasons.

But let's sum up the basics here.

1. NCAA issues a 55 page NOA implicating men's basketball and football.

2. UNC self-reports other violations

3. NCAA takes these into advisement and in the ensuing NOA has no mention of previous violations.

4. What the hell??

5. I mean SERIOUSLY. WHAT THE HELL??!!!

This isn't sweeping it under the rug. I had assumed a lame penalty like losing 2 scholarships and MAYBE a post season ban. That would have been sweeping it under the rug; doing just enough to say "we punished them and it's over." But the NCAA are just vaporizing something they ALREADY accused them of doing into thin air like it never even was.

WHAT IN THE HOLY FREAKING HELL?????

yeah, i'm not entirely sure how you can extend an investigation and find less infractions than you started with.

Excellent points. I am sure that some NCAA member schools will bring this fact up as well. How could infractions be removed when more were submitted? I can smell a lawsuit somewhere especially from female athletes who will be maligned when it is all said and done. Imagine if Emmert and the NCAA along with UNC are put on the stand.

Surely the ANOA is in addition to the old NOA. If not, I can't wrap my mind around that. I'll withhold my indignation and try not to get bent out of shape until it is clear exactly what is happening.

Not according to UNC reporter Andrew Carter. He says it's a new NOA that replaced the other one.

Exactly the questions I'm asking. Your original NOA had 55 pages worth of examples of blatant cheating. It had a strict timeline laid out that proved at least 18 years of blatant cheating. And now all of a sudden it's been reduced to 13 pages? 18 years has now been knocked down to 10 years? And not only 10 years, but they started the accusations during the fall semester in 2005 which is a semester AFTER their national title winning player came out and said he took fraudulent classes.

I know we made jokes about how the NCAA would give them a slap on the wrist. But good golly I never thought they'd powder their tails for them after the massive dump UNC took on the NCAA landscape.

Better start start trying.

The same organization that threatened to make Mitch Barnhart come before the Committee on Infractions due to a commemorative basketball just let UNC get away with faking eligibility for 25 years.

Sad day for college athletics. I'm about done investing emotionally into it anymore. They announced today that the playing field isn't level, and UNC and Duke(we already knew) were untouchable. From the media slurping to the national media the NCAA will do anything to protect the ACC gang. Syracuse should have got much worse than they got, Louisville won't get much more than that. It is what it is folks.
Hard to invest emotion in a college hoops when the WWE has more integrity. Plus watching our guys mass exodus every year with nothing to show for it is getting old. 2 players on this years past team at the most should be going to the draft. We are currently becoming a NBA tryout center while 2 of the last four years not getting out of the first weekend and losing 10+ games a year. I've become tired of hanging recruiting championships.

I am sure that you can find a team with 4 year players to support. There has to be a team that you can follow until you find a new flavor. The NC isn't the end all be all.

If some member schools don't stand up to the NCAA because of the way this issue was handled then the value of winning a NCAA national championship in any sport is diminished to the point that it equals winning an obscure AAU tournament in a small town somewhere.

This is a blow to college athletics that the NCAA should be held accountable for in a court of law.If air in a football can be made an issue for an Appeals Court then the systematic denial of an education to a generation of college students for the sole purpose of gaining a competitive advantage in multiple sports is surely worth litigation.

Fans, boosters, students and school administrators should turn their collective backs on NCAA championship events. As a lifelong UK an I will continue to watch and cheer for the Cats but winning an NCAA tit

I feel the same way I felt the day OJ Simpson was found not guilty. I know he did it, he knows he did it. The universe knows he did it, and if there is cosmic justice he'll eventually pay for it, and if there isn't, the taint will always follow him. Where's OJ today?

This will catch up to them, if there is fairness in the universe. And if there isn't, well, they know they cheated. They know Rashad McCants' name stains their dean's list forever, and their coach looked the other way while an entire team in 2005 made a mockery out of any ethical standards the university pretends to have, and that the 1000s of news articles documenting decades of fraud still exist, and they know they systematically cheated black athletes out of the education promised them. Any UNC fan who isn't complete scum and trash won't feel the same about that place.

In a perfect world or movie you would hope this would be the case but unless someone stands up and calls the NCAA and UNC out it will go back to business as usual for both parties. When the next school is hit with sanctions the wounds will be reopened(what about it UL fans, how you feeling Rick)

U of L is going to be ticked when they get nailed for something simple to prove, yet UNC committed far worse atrocities in regards to length, fraud, and a calculated method of cheating for decades. Watch out Coach Hatchell!

One question, do you all still want to tell me how dumb I am? Seems to me that I was right all along about the classes...and...oh...yeah...sorry, one more. Who remembers me saying NO GAMES VACATED? But, by all means, keep believing those "insiders". Later haters.

To me, this post demonstrates the mentality of the entire "school" at UNC regarding the cheating. It's just one more competition to be won, and ethics and integrity be damned. I'm not too shocked that fans would look at it this way, but it's pretty shocking that the President, Chancellor, Provost, Boards of Governors and Trustees, professors, and all of the myriad other academics do as well. What a school.

No, they took care of that too. There is a new rule in place so if anyone tries 'the Carolina way', they WILL be punished. Pretty neat trick, huh.

Next time UNC plays in RUPP, I know Cal will say we "should not do anything". But I think during the UNC introductions, every fan should throw a paper-airplane down onto the court (I know only a fraction will make it), and the papers should read in crayon "AFAM 101" at the top as the header, then have a single sentence "I play baskutball", and in the middle have a giant "A+" written.

If we ever allow them on our court again, it will be a travesty.

Am I missing something?

The first paragraph of the new letter states: "The purpose of this letter and its enclosure is to provide the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with an amended notice of allegations. Please note that the policies and procedures outlined in the May 20, 2015, notice of allegations and corresponding cover letter still apply."

http://media2.newsobserver.com/stat...eractive/uncscandal/pdf/20160425-NCAA-NOA.pdf

Doesn't that mean and say that this is in addition to the previous allegations not changes or removing the original allegations?
Wouldn't this make since, after all wouldn't this letter be based pretty much on responding to the new issues that UNC self reported?

Calipari has said the NCAA protects some programs and coaches. Others had looked at him like it was sour grapes. "Cal's a cheater" without knowing the actual facts. This coach lost 2 FF and in his own words "they wanted to embarrass and humiliate him".
As a blue blood, we sure haven't had the Duke, UNC, and KU treatment. Roy changed his own story over and over. He knew what his classes his players was in to not knowing anything it's all a crooked bunch of shiiiit.

Amended means changed, not supplementing. Also, it says "policies and procedures" not "allegations".

Yes, it is a pretty poorly worded sentence. But pretty amazing to think if they had used the word "allegations" how different things would be.

Not according to Jay Bilas. Just took a look at his Twitter timeline. I have always liked and respected him, but he seems to be toeing the UNC line on this.

I'm not a lawyer, so maybe technically NCAA law says it isn't their jurisdiction. And even IF it isn't, that is absolutely ludicrous in and of itself. When has that ever stopped the NCAA? It appears when it's UNC or Duke.

Another point: Did McCants not make it blatantly clear that at least some of the classes weren't just easy, but entirely fraudulent?

I can't help but lose some respect for Bilas. After reading his timeline, I'm not sure I will even listen to today's MJ's podcast with him. I'm guessing it will only infuriate me even more.
