A lot of cloudy info on our side on this one. Not an insider whatsoever, but it's hard not to think it's the recent heavy favorite this close to decision time Duke).

Well............sounds like if he commits at the game, we are in a good position to be the benefactor? If he doesn't, and goes back home uncommitted, I'd have to think Duke has the upper hand.

And I have ZERO sources. [roll]

In short, without giving away too much, both TJ and Bossi have heard from multiple sources that Bolden is iffy about announcing at the game because players from both teams will be there, and they're all his friends, he just doesn't wanna put himself in that spot in that setting (but nobody is ruling out the possibility that he does announce at that setting). Both TJ and Bossi think Bolden lands at UK, despite this, based on the info they've gotten. The day doesn't matter as much as STL is indicating, maybe he missed that large part of the discussion.

Also, there are a number of Duke recruiting guys (Adam Rowe included) who seem to be in the dark about the Bolden recruitment now.

where did either say they think he'll land at UK? I'm going through their posts and I can't find anything definitive like that

USA Today's Jim Halley says Marques Bolden may take advantage of the TV coverage to name his school at the Jordan Brand Classic

My sources can confirm that Bolden may or may not announce his decision tonight at the JBC. They also state that if the announcement does not come tonight then it is 100% certain he chooses either Duke or UK in the future.

Take that to the bank guys.

Yeah, but ya never know with recruiting. I believe the kid was genuinely torn for a while, but he already wanted to commit to UK, I believe it was twice before.

That's the part that gets me... if he wanted to commit earlier, UK told him to wait? Was it to let him see who leaves for the NBA? If so, it was good advice for his sake. I just hope that doesn't backfire, since it seems Cal was trying to do the right thing for the kid.

Are you kidding me? You have the most selective reading I've ever seen.

TJ Walker said in his OP from yesterday:

I believe the kid will pick UK and will do so on Friday..

I'm glad I saw that before posting this thread seperately because today I found out that the plan is for Bolden to commit tomorrow. When I was told that news I was also told UK felt good about their chances. Now, Paul is hearing that Kentucky will be the choice but I haven't been told that, although I'm thinking that will be the case.

Bossi has said that he's heard from several people who he would call solid sources that say Bolden will go to UK. He said he's not willing to say "done deal, UK", but it's in favor to UK. He said that last night as well.

Still seems like this is the typical stuff you hear before a guy commits somewhere. My Duke buddy still claims he is coming to Duke.

No one on 247 has changed their pick to UK. You would think if there was this much "positive vibes for UK" someone would change their pick to UK.

I swear, with all the hype around this kid, he better come in here, or Duke for that matter, and blow Anthony Davis's stats to bits. This is just insane. Announce for God's sakes, and move on.

Seriously. I hate when someone posts something like that with no indication what they are referring to.
but that's probably be the reason this page is 14 pages long [laughing]

lot of people have done similar - I think the first 3-4 pages were asking people what they meant by their cryptic comments

who was it who said you can't get PTSD from a recruit's choice?
I'm beginning to wonder about some of the posters [winking]

This time A MILLION! You have a choice made kid......pick and move on. Seems he is liking all of the attention and to me that hints at a selfish young man. You can't tell me he hasn't made up his mind after all of this.

If the kid isn't ready, why should he announce?

To appease obnoxious message board fans of a team?

John Wall committed on May 20
Eric Bledsoe committed on May 5
Nerlens committed on April 19

Did all these guys like the attention and were they all selfish?

I can actually understand him not wanting to do it at the game tonight. He's got Fox and company recruiting him hard for UK and he's got Giles and the Duke recruits trying to sway him our way. It makes sense to go home and announce away from all the pressures from his peers.

Just read on twitter his father said he didn't plan on announcing tonight...I officially couldn't care less where this kid goes. Announce or get off the pot so we can look elsewhere ....no way he doesn't know where hes going at this point!

What difference does it make? It's April. If it upsets you, don't follow every tweet and post.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think he has made his mind up? As fans, we get upset, and a little hateful sometimes, all because of information that we get that's at least 4th hand information at best. Then we start reading tea leaves, analyzing quotes, and virtually trying to sum up the decision as if we are the recruit. We get caught up in it all. However, we as fans, have a lot less riding on this decision than the recruits themselves.

Do I think some recruits do intentionally delay their decision all for the attention? Yea, but I'm not sure Bolden is doing that. In my mind, if that were the case, I think you would see him, and people around him talking a lot more than they are. While the decision seems simple to us fans sometimes, the fact of the matter is, he is not assured major playing time or a starting position at either place, regardless of what the coaching staffs may be telling him. He could easily be a 10 min/gm guy at Duke stuck behind Jefferson, or he could be a starter if he can provide everything Jefferson is with more offense. At UK, he might be a 10 min/gm guy if Briscoe comes back and starts, and Cal goes with 3 guards, Willis/Gabriel and Bam. Don't forget that there is a recruit not many are talking about that isn't rated that far behind him, that has an ability to play the position as well in SKJ. But Cal likes long athletic teams with a back to the basket type scorer, which means he could start and play 30 min/gm.

Not sure it is an easy decision.

Ralph Sampson said he wasn't sure UK or Virginia during the car ride to the press conference announcement. The kid seriously might not know yet.

I hope he isn't playing us so we can't get Allen either.
He may know he's going to Duke and is waiting for Allen to commit to Texas or somewhere.
That would definitely give Duke the edge.

Oh, and having said that, I do agree that Cal probably should have just said the first to decide between Allen and Bolden gets the scholarship. As Cal doesn't need to be shorted either. I'm not really a fan of putting pressure on kids, but I am also not a fan of the frontcourt production last year, so I definitely don't want to be short-handed on bigs that have an appearance to contribute.

Bolden has said it himself he is ready to get it over with, that to me doesnt sound like he doesn't know.

Bolden knows where he is going and so do his parents he is literally holding out to build up the hype rather you all want to believe it or not. If the kid was truly torn, he would of said it in his interviews.

It's a done deal he knows where he is going.

Don't you mean a fund to convince Marcus to stay? UMM said if Marcus is here next year, he will not post again.
I'd rather have a Cat stay a Cat than worry about some random poster on a message board.

So for those in the know, how does him not announcing impact our chances with him? Seems like a lot of the UK buzz was predicated on him announcing tonight.
