Frank Jackson is going to be a very good player, but the ones that think this kid can come in and be their leader at point guard his freshman year of college after watching him hit some 3s in all star games are going to be in for a surprise. The kid is not even a point guard. You can play the kid there, but that doesn't make him a real point guard. He's a shooting guard that is going to have to learn to play point guard if he wants to make money playing basketball. Frank has never met a deep 3 he didn't like. The kid is ready to launch it from 3 the moment he crosses half court. Don't get me wrong, he can hit those shots at a high %, but he will have more games his freshman year of college basketball where his shots aint falling and Duke fans are going to go insane. When his shot isn't falling, he's not the type of guard to get others going. If his shot aint falling, he is going to keep shooting until it starts to go in. He's a very talented player, but leading Duke to a title his freshman year playing a position he's not used to? I doubt it, but you never know. This transfer is the best news a Kentucky fan could have got about Duke next season. Duke is oaded, but they just lost their best point guard and their best defender outside the paint. That is great news to us Kentucky fans. It's even better news than them landing Bolden imo. Watching Frank and Allen try to guard quick guards outside the paint is going to be lots of fun come next season.

Yeah, folks thinking Duke wanted this outcome are dead wrong. Duke 247 insiders said that the coaching staff has been trying to keep Thornton since January, and Bolden's scholarship most likely would come from Obi retiring for medical reasons, or the staff wouldn't have offered Jack White a scholarship a month or so ago.

Otoh, Thornton just didn't look good this year and I'm not convinced that Duke is worse off with Frank Jackson playing point (at least he can shoot straight), assuming no injuries.
