From the way he played today, I think Simmons has just been biding his time in college. The one year out of high school rule penalizes players like Simmons who could just step in and play for pay. Coasting has a cost though. I remember the trumpeter Wynton Marsalis advising young players to always play their best. Develop good habits. He should have spent this year learning how to shoot better.

Simmons doesn't show a lot of emotion but acts like a kid that has been spoon fed and wore diapers to long when talking to the press. I saw a clip where he said he didn't care what the press said about the Wooden award, he knew he was the best player in college, he may be, but you don't say things like that in public as a freshman. That tells you Jones has no influence in the way he presents himself to the press. As for him saying that about Ulis, that's just sour grapes, he gets away with more than anybody in college basketball as for getting touched and fouls called. He made the decision to go to LSU, now he has to live with it, meaning watching the NCAA's on tv more than likely.

Funny thing is Simmons really never got any better during his year at LSU. It would be hard to imagine the player he would've been playing along side Ulis. He'd also be more acclimated to the pressure of stardom entering the NBA. The guy made a huge mistake and no one cares about his opinions.. He played on a team that should've easily made the Big Dance and he and his coach and teammates failed to get it done.

You have seen how our players are all brothers - whether they played on the same team or not. Simmons will be in the NBA next year - but he'll be playing with and against UK players.
