Believe this is an over the top troll response to a VT account (below) who posted an unsubstantiated rumor that Koby Howard was looking to hit the portal. There are no sources or anything for either post…it’s rage bait.

That's horrible if true. PSU needs to pick up a lot of players in the portal since they haven't had much of a recruiting class for 2 years. We can hardly afford to lose the top dozen players who are eligible to return.

I don't see that many top players from other schools entering the portal. It's mostly 5th year seniors, kids that aren't starting at their existing schools, and players from lower level schools who wat to play in better conferences for a better paycheck. You seldom see players like Jeremiah Smith, Sam Leavitt, or Arch Manning leave for other programs. PSU got James Peoples because he wasn't getting meaningful PT at OSU.

From what I read online, Borque is a big dollar recruit and the cupboard is bare for Grunk (estimate of 5 million for him now!)
I saw Adam Brenneman say we should go after WVA QB Michael Hawkins. IIRC he said it might cost $4 million.

First off, Howard isn't close to Jeremiah Smith--no one is
Leavitt has transferred twice while being a starter--why did you include him?
Most players leave for the reason Peoples left or their program won't pay them
Howard has played 3 games against low level teams--while I believe he's our best player anyone that believes random rumors needs to pump the breaks--it appears he's been hurt all year and was playing through it

Koby Howard still on injured list looking more and more like a business decision than an athletic injury issue

Leavitt was a bad example but my point remains. Top teams retain their best players. That's especially important for PSU because they don't have many proven players or top prospects returning.

Howard isn't on that level though--nor are we on the level of Ohio State or Texas
I'd also argue Allar made a huge mistake staying and players should learn from that
If we want Howard to stay we have to pay him--he also hasn't left yet so I'm not sure why there's angst about it.
If Zayas leaves I'm worried--other than that--whatever happens, happens

More than Zayas

Wallace/Martin
Robinson/Jackson/Howard
Rapp/Furmanek
Goodman/Alciene/Buhr/Cousins
Kemajou/Alexander/Nnodim/Blanding/Andrews/Ford/Granville
Tasch?
Dixson/Zayas/Joseph/Neal/Toure

That's 24 out of ~ 75 who I guess would get significant payment. Add 25 recruits + portal.

Why in the world is Martin on your list? The coaching staff would be thrilled if he left.
Rapp and Zayas are the only 2 musts. Wallace had one good game. Let's see how he builds on it.
Regarding Q...the moment his dumbass father decided to publicly attack essentially everyone on the team including the coaches while complaining about his son's playing time Q was done at Penn State after 2026. Nothing against Q but he better cut dad out of his life asap.

-I think Martin will portal.
-Buhr, not sure about him?
-Andrews (DE), not sure about him?
-Neal might be a senior, but don't see the value in retaining him, if he has eligibility

Also Retain:
Riker (Center)
Will Tompkins (OL who is out for the season) is versatile for interior OL.
Sexton (O Tackle)
Cam Smith (LBer)
Arrington (DE) has potential after adding weight
Burnett (DE), also potential, has battled injuries
Joseph (CB)

Based on the fact that Barkley had a similar injury and missed one game.
Similar injury based on what?
You all are so desperate to believe the sky is falling you're just making up things
Franklin didn't even think Howard was good enough to play--not sure why everyone is so worried now

Yet you’re the one saying we won’t win again until he comes back, hmmm.

I don't know what Howard will do or not do this offseason, but the fact that this account places VTech in the mix tells me the info this particular person is claiming to know is troll hogwash. There is a very real reason he did not follow Franklin to VTech last offseason...
This is a troll account.

Because I believe he's our best offensive player contrary to what Franklin believed
That said, there's no reason to believe he's "opting out" or is unhappy with his current situation
You all are unhappy so you're projecting.

I never said he was opting out for sure, it’s just strange to be out as long as he has for a hamstring.

It's not--you have no idea the severity of the injury. A grade 1 sprain would be 1-3 weeks while a severe strain can be months.
You realize not all hamstring injuries are the same, right?

I do, but I have seen some pretty severe hamstring injuries and none of them were out this long.

But we don’t know, that’s kind of the point.
And you don't know it isn't--you just want to pretend he's choosing not to play
Why would anyone take that approach to an injury?
Honestly, he should leave--our fan base is trash
