Really liking how next years team is potentially looking on paper. Potentially have everyone back from this team except Kepnang, although Moreno and Momcilovic are also likely gone also. Pickup a starting center in the portal and it should be a good mix of talent/experience.

I don’t really think Momcilovic will be any more appealing to the nba than he was last year.
He’ll make more in college.
That situation will be interesting.

Come back and clear $12 million in two years of college. Or have to fight for a bench role in the NBA for less than a third of that and play twice as many games. Who wouldn't take that deal?

They didn't quit, they just sucked that day. They stunk from the tip.
Name a coach/program/team/franchise that never got smacked by an inferior opponent. Welcome to competitive sports.
There is a big difference between getting beat and quitting, you guys are just picking out lopsided losses and claiming our guys quit. What did you see in that game that makes you believe they quit?

Holy hell this is no normal "get".
THIS guy could be a CHAMPIONSHIP.

I cannot believe he's that size and he isn't even 18 yet. He's going to be shaq monster size when he gets older.

His potential is almost as good as just about any guy that Calipari ever got in his whole time here.

I firmly believe that elite shot blocking at the Power Forward and the Center is the way to a championship

DA, MoD, JJ and BG. You can’t tell me that there wasn’t something going on behind the scene with these guys. Not sure where OO was in all this but he definitely quit in a few games.
That team looked seriously broken to me. He must have brought in Dr. Phil to fix that bunch.

Year one the team quit several times. And was 10-8 in the SEC. Year one was no better than year 2 as a whole. He just lucked into a few wins. That team didn't play defense or rebound. And it's not Cal's fault.

This is all completely on Pope. This is a nice pick up. But we really haven't had a player problem under Pope. we have had a coaching problem. And an effort problem which is inexcusable. There will inevitably be effort problems this season and conditioning issues. Those are a Mark pope coaching staple.
Lucks into the wins, earns the losses.
Seems logical.

Getting your a$$ kicked doesn’t mean you gave up, it means you got your a$$ kicked. That jackwagon thinks every time we lost = our guys gave up.

Yeah, we got our butts kicked in the sweet 16 and it looked bad, but Lamont Butler doesn’t give up. Carr doesn’t give up, Brea doesn’t throw in the towel, Amari Williams doesn't just quit. Sometimes you're the hammer and sometimes you're the nail.

That team was incredibly thin and beat up. Carr was playing with back spasms and Butler was playing with a tear in his shoulder. No Robinson. Yup, we lost, doesn't mean we quit.

I'd much rather lose to Tennessee in the sweet 16 than to Oakland and Saint Peters in round 1, that's for damn sure.
If we'd have just tried harder, who knows...?

That team never quit, can’t believe that anyone could be down on his first team. When healthy they could play with anyone. The injuries derailed that team. People overlook the fact that after Carr hurt his back that he wasn’t the same player.

Heck no they didn't quit. When other teams have injuries and we play them, some folks on here automatically discount the victory, but we can be missing 2-3 key guys and if we lose, the same people say we are garbage. I don't get it

I think he goes, he certainly looks like a pro with his shooting and mid range game. He has great size and some team could make good use of him. Makes no sense why they don’t want him to me. That said, I hope they don’t and he return on a massive NIL deal. Gimme MOM 2 years please!

They absolutely quit the Gonzaga game. That was one of the most pathetic efforts I’ve ever watched during a Cats game.

So many of the replies I'm getting keep focusing on last years team. That's all they want to focus on, they totally ignore year 1 and when they do reply about year 1, they just bring up any losses we had.

These people are only happy when they're complaining.

We already went over this. Year 2 was a mess, we are talking about year 1 and in year 1, we saw a team that absolutely did not quit, especially in the Gonzaga game.

The Ole miss and Ohio state games you could argue we did.
I mean, you could argue that if you want, that's up to you. Looks to me like we just got beat.

We just smoked Manhattan, had them down 36 at one point, that's a lot, but they never gave up. Sometimes you just get your *** kicked.

If you think guys like Amari, Butler and Carr ever quit, that's odd, those guys aren't quitters.

However, I did see Jaxson Robinson get frustrated and quit in one of the Alabama games, but that's the only quitting I saw in year 1.

By saying the team was poorly constructed? How does that = me propping up Pope? Please explain.
You said more than just that bud, you were blaming the locker room issues and the players for poor performance and then talked about how pope did a good job keeping the team from self destructing. And you don’t even know that there were locker room issues, it was just a poor coaching job by pope plain and simple

I think we can keep Milan for next year. He will almost certainly make more at UK. Get him back and good god we are going to be a top 5 team

We could possibly return everyone but Kepnang, although obviously we will not. Moreno is most likely gone as well. I would be fine if Hampton and Millogo are our only hs recruits for this cycle. Fill any other spots, if there is any, with the portal later on. Probably look for a starting center in the portal, but might not need anything else.
Bringing back Mason Williams and Alex Wilkins as your starting back court next year would be a great start. Kam and Hawthorne and Noah could give us a lot of continuity at forward (though we definitely need more top level talent there). I'd imagine Cherif is coming in to start. Momcilovic as a super senior would be amazing and yes he can make a ton of money here in college, just have to see if he wants to be a 23 year old college student or if he wants to take his shot in the NBA.

And all of it is true too.

Why does this anger you? You hate the fact that every little thing that went wrong, wasn't just Mark Pope's fault. You want everytning to be Mark's fault. Cool, have fun with that.

1) Were there lockerroom issues? Yes
2) Was the team poorly constructed? Yes
3) Did the team quit at times? Yes
4) Did the coaches salvage what they could? Yes
5) Did Pope suck at substituting? Yes
6) Did Pope stand there and do nothing while our guys quit? Yes
7) Did injuries severely hamper that team? Yes

What else do you want me to say to make you happy? Several things can be true at the same time… .Bud.

And get this, these players are making more money than Pope and they are adults. Since they're getting paid, they are professional athletes, which means they need to own their performance. Blame everything on Pope all you want, but these "professional athletes" acted like spoiled brats for a while.
