SEA looked good last night, gonna be a test next Monday in Sea.
It's going to be very hard to win up there. Their defense is legit, especially against the run. JJ on JSN will be embarrassing, not sure of Muhammad's status but a rookie vs JSN might not fair much better.....sorry to be doom and gloom here but I had this as a L when I first saw the schedule and I'm sticking to it. I will be extremely happy if I'm wrong!

Yep, 3 year $105 mil extension kicks in next year. Great pick up for sure but wonder how it will effect extending those currently on rookie contracts when he's pulling in $30 mil/year
With expiring contracts and cuts next season the Bears could have up to $60m in open cap space. For all of his faults, Poles has managed the cap well

Fair point but they’ll figure it out. I’m no cap expert but Sweats suspension made his guaranteed money into non-guaranteed. Need to see how that correlates with cap hit if they move on after this year.

I love it. Arguably the best DT in the league. All Pro, not Pro Bowl 😂. 11 sacks from the DT position is insane. Hefty price for sure but if they are going to be as good as we all think they will be those will be lower picks.

We gave up two first rounders for Mack and it hurt us then because we weren't built for the future as well as this team is and not having those picks hurt us....but this team is built so much better then that team was. Great move.

He was also Sweats teammate at Mississippi State, maybe he can light a fire up in him.

I think this is the end of Sweat in Chicago

Did you subtract the $22.5m Simmons will now take up? I know the number will obviously change but where are you getting $60 mil in cap space next year if they're currently at -$41 mil for next year.

It's also not so much next year but 2028 and beyond when a lot of their rookie contracts will be up. 2029 would be the start of new deals for guys like Caleb, Rome, Luther, Monangai, and that's Loveland's option year.

Obviously they'll get it figured out but I wouldn't get too attached to those on rookie deals.

Why does a DT mean the end of and a DE? If anything having the best DT in the league and a rusher from the secondary like Gordon only helps Sweat, so the OL has to worry about more than one person.

Sweet baby Jesus I hope this trade works. Just saw it's the first time a DT has been traded for multiple first round picks since 1967.

I think it's more if they can shed the money after this year they will seriously think about it.

Here is a positive take on Sweat. He is certainly embarrassed by the suspension, he has had two weeks to get fully healthy. Maybe he has a monster game Monday...

He's under contract for another year and would only be a $4 mil dead cap hit if the cut him, but I don't see them moving on from him without a better or equal replacement and they currently don't have that on the roster. We'll see who's available in free agency but I'd bet he'll still be there next year.

Completely reasonable as well. As much as we all want more from him as fans, he isn't bad. He is still the best DE they have until someone steps up and is consistent.

I think it would be best for all involved for him to just have a really really good second half+ of the year.

Much like last year. People complained about him but he still finished with 10 sacks

With this turn of events there is no other goal to have this year and beyond, except to appear in and win the SB. Nothing else will do. The Bears went to the divisional playoff round next year. This can't be one of those, "hopefully we get to the NFC Championship game" things. NO. If you're going to make a blockbuster move like this, the dividends must pay off in the short term.

I do, however, like the fact it's a gutsy move. But I will guarantee the majority of Bears fans are swallowing hard right now. :D
