Nope. They're pros now. They wanted to pervert the game for their own benefit/branding, they can reap what they sowed.
Exactly
He is making more money than most people ever will.
Most everyone is criticized as employees. Zoom was 2 for 9 shooting last night, made stupid turnovers and was beat numerous times on defense. He stands out front dribbling while clock runs down. He cannot create his own shot or shots for others. He is a bad fit for a supposed system that needs shooters. But that is on Pope for signing players that don't fit

You think bitching and whining during October is going to get him fired? No it’s not. All it does is cause the players to feel unsupported and continue the narrative that UK fans are whiny and unreasonable. Trust me, the program is going to be fine with or without you. Hopefully you can relax enough to see it play out.
I don’t blame the players, or pope. I blame the retard who’s responsible for this, Mitch.

Jesus Christ - this is truly the craziest fan base in the country. When you're scaring kids into shutting their IG accounts down, it's an explicit example of the nut factory that BBN is.

And you wonder why BBN can't get a better coach than Pope. Do effen better. You want a better coach than Pope, need to show you deserve it.

You say that, yet it's unheard of in other programs. It becomes trolling because other fanbases know they can get into the psyche of the nut factory.

Yeah, it's all made up. Use common sense. This is the kind of stuff Pope should address in his next presser with some balls so people start respecting him.
I didn’t say it was made up, I said I want to see the tweets. If it happened, link some. Go ahead.

You do realize that was not a real game, right?

Getting in any way upset about someone’s performance in mere exhibition scrimmage …much less upset enough to go harass him on his social media accounts …is utter insanity.

I get that these guys are now highly paid mercenaries and all that, but this nonsense does nothing but make UK fans look pitiful.

Don't justify this weird, aggressive behavior that's borderline obsessive.

Him getting paid, which is legal per SCOTUS, doesn't give anyone the right to harass him online, if that's what happened. Employees like you or I also aren't harassed either. No one comes into your workplace or outside of it and harasses you and if they did, you wouldn't be okay with it. No one here is saying you shouldn't criticize a player but do it here, call into a show, or post it on your own social media account. There's no positives in tagging the player or messaging him directly to make sure he sees it as if he needs to hear from you. Most here agree with that but a few are showing their true selves by acting as if it's no big deal or it's somehow okay. Players getting paid, which again is perfectly legal, has broken the brains of some of our posters into thinking anything goes.

It's truly not a difficult thing to be a decent person and someone running their mouth directly at a college player online isn't normal behavior. People try to normalize it but it's not normal.

Texting ****** things to pro players is also loser mentality.

I get we're a passionate fan base but unless you can get out there and out play them maybe not DM them.

It's one thing to say they're not playing well or having a bad night. Texting personal shots/threats to ANY player at any level is ****** behavior.

Most intelligent thing that man ever said. He was right.
Hes actually an intelligent person. Seeing his growth as a human is amazing. Hes a good dude. Watched his documentary with my mom and she was flabbergasted because all she knew was the crazy 80s maniac that was disrespectful.

I love Tyson. Still mad he didnt break the script and beat Jake Pauls butt tho.

Ill also leave it at this..the amount of money someone makes does not make disrespect okay. Matter of fact, Be careful disrespecting the wrong person with money.

I wish I was a millionaire at my job and someone thought that gave them a green light to disrespect. Thats weirdo punk behavior counting somebody's pockets anyways.

Jeez.

And, yes, other fanbases do this too, so it’s not unique to UK. Let me get that out of the way first.

But FFS some grown *** adults take this stuff way too seriously. It’s embarrassing. Kid hasn’t even played a real game that counts yet and we already have people who base their self worth on the success of their sports team attacking his socials. It’s loser behavior.

And, yes, I know they get paid now and some will use that as an excuse to defend their actions. I’m not invested in any sport enough to personally attack an athlete on social media - college or pro.

I’m sure the clowns who do this kind of thing regularly will be here to defend themselves and attack my opinion shortly.
Good chance some.of the culprits are rival fans trying to make us look bad

I wouldn’t have social media if I was in the public eye personally but where we at on this one Rafters? He has been sucking for sure but I personally don’t think going on people’s social channels and trolling or threatening them is acceptable but I know there will be other takes. Let er rip.

I genuinely believe no one should be harassed over something as trivial as basketball. If you’re reaching a point where you’re that angry at Kentucky, just stop watching. Stop supporting. Find a new hobby. But do not harass the coaches nor the players nor anyone else part of the program.

But… This is a big but: these players; these coaches. None of them are owed our support. They aren’t owed us blindly watching and giving them monetary support. They’re performers at the end of the day. And you have to perform to the fanbase’s expectations. It may very well come to a point where fans no longer want to continue to support what they see as a mediocre product. Look at Indiana. Look at UCLA. That could very well be the trajectory of Kentucky basketball if it doesn’t change: players playing in half-empty arenas.

It’s like if you made a movie. You aren’t owed to have the seats filled at the movie theaters. There’s plenty of bad movies out there that no one wants to watch. And they flop.

Kentucky is not owed my viewership. My money. If it gets bad enough, I’ll stop supporting it altogether. That’s my right and I don’t need fellow fans to try to shame those of us who won’t accept the product we’re currently being given.

No one will ever convince me that harassing players on social media is ok or acceptable. And if you think it's perfectly fine then I will assume you are simply an absolute idiot who has never been, and likely needs, to be punched in the mouth.

I don't care how much you dislike how things are going. Messaging players directly makes you absolute scum. Social media is the worst thing to happen to humanity in decades.

He was terrible last night, and worse than that, he looked disinterested. He's getting a lot of money to play here and with that comes lots of attention, good and bad. Having said that, people who send messages directly to players or tag them or whatever are retards.
He was awful at Washington. I was shocked he went to Kentucky.

Yeah I wanted that too. Someone needs to take that loud mouth arrogant jackass to the mat.

I didn't mean to imply Tyson was stupid. I don't think he is at all.....at least not socially. He's matured in his aging and is actually known to be very shy and introverted.

I want to see actual evidence he was threatened first. It’s stupid to go yell at him on social media at all but I hate the narrative that he was threatened over an exhibition game without proof. Just because he deleted it doesn’t mean he was threatened.
When did anyone say he was threatened? No one knows what happened but other athletes have been threatened before so it’s a blanket statement to say it’s not ok to say “hateful words” or “threats” if it was anything it was most likely words but your telling me you can’t believe a crazy person would threaten over sports?

also it’s not like Zoom is going to screen shot any texts and post them.

Read this again.

With Zoom Diallo deactivating his Instagram account, BBN needs to support our players now more than ever. It’s never okay to send hateful words or THREATS towards our athletes. Do better, BBN

That implies to me he was threatened.

I want to see actual Kentucky fans who sent these terrible tweets. All I asked for was proof. If you make a post like this and criticize the fanbase yet again at least show why you think he did it. I’m sick of people always blaming the fanbase for everything. It’s his own play that is criticized, and just like Calipari, Pope is criticized for his record and job so far. Maybe he just couldn’t handle criticism. I know people do these things but the majority of them are other teams fans, gamblers, and idiots. Not actual fans of the team.

Lol, don't check NBA/NFL/MLB twitter then....part of the territory playing for a big time program/franchise. College football fanbases are another example. Not defending it at all, but to act like it's a UK only problem, isn't honest.

Show me another program where a kid had to shut down his socials because a fanbase is attacking him over an EXHIBITION game. Please do.

Pope needs to find ways for Zoom to be effective on the court. That's his job. Coach him up. This isn't Cal and rolling out the basketballs. Time to coach the kids up, or get out. Stein shows the importance of great coaching, finding ways for kids to to be successful. Pope needs to do that.

I think Zoom just deactivated it and people are trying to piece together why

Not condoning, but fans getting on a FB player in a huge rivalry game for being an idiot getting a roughing call that lost them the game, in a sport where every real game matters is a LOT different than getting on a PG in an exhibition game that was won. Do you not see the difference?

It feels like anarchy under this guy. He has no handle on anything.
I know some fans keep saying “Who you going to get to replace Pope,” but can we really keep a guy who just doesn’t have the ability to wrangle his players and the fanbase? Before Cal went off the deep end, he was pretty good at keeping everyone in line. Even if it’s a nobody with no previous coaching results, you have to get a coach who is at the very least capable of living under a magnifying glass because Pope is wilting under the pressure. I know he’s getting paid a lot, but I really do feel bad for him. He was given a job he simply wasn’t emotionally qualified for.

No doubt. His way of handling the scrutiny is by growing a beard and trying to learn a tough guy pose. This delusional fanbase needs an alpha and a leader, someone that knows how to run the ship with comprehension.

I don't know if Jai Lucas is that. He has all the presence of Irkel. I can see him imploding. Not an SEC coach.

You know who I think the guy is. I would get this guy wrapped up before any other big seats open up.

What difference does it make dude? You're trying to act like this is exclusive to UK fans, by splitting hairs "oh it's an exhibition game, these were real games". I also linked you 4 articles, from Alabama, Miami, St Johns, and USC fans.

Btw, most of these "fans" dming players are angry sports gamblers.

Look how many people in this thread are still calling the players kids. These are professionals who milked every last dollar out of Kentucky after getting begged to come here and merc in our uniforms.

Not only that, there’s no guarantee that the trash talkers are actually UK fans, and furthermore, I submit that scolding posters in this thread accomplishes nothing since this community isn’t likely the type to approach the players on social media like that. This community gets out its frustration here.

Stop falling for everything you hear in the media.

Most of the people contacting players are usually younger and sports betters.
I seen a thing where like 25% of Gen Z views sports betting as a legitimate Retirement investment. I can’t believe it, like this whole generation will end up degen gamblers and broke. Vegas doesn’t lose over time, they aren’t all insiders who can manipulate the system either.
