Rock is used loosely here. Love some of the picks in the top ten and love #1. Let’s get worked up fellas!!

I don't know many of the bands/songs, but the ones I do know are solid. My list would look a lot different but I'm not going to complain.

Frankly, not sure if the Stones, Dylan, Springsteen songs should be in this.

Also not sure how they don't make Seven Nation Army #1 even though it's been played to death.

I get the need for lists (I think), but imo the best rock song lists of 67, 69, 71, 72 & 73 (and probably some other years) would eclipse this 26 year compilation.

Seems they tried to keep things fair by limiting the number of songs to one or two (mostly one) per artist and tried to be as broad/inclusive as possible with the 'rock' genre. In terms of staying power, Seven Nation Army (Jack White well represented throughout the entire list though - shows up four or five times...) and Mr. Brightside are the winners so far this century. But, Maps is the cooler/indie song that sort of came out of nowhere so I'm good with it and love the song.

As to other decades doing it better, it would be interesting to see what the lists would look like. I will say for this century, the music is wildly varied. Would that be the same in the 60's and 70's? Dunno. I do know 9 out of 10 times, I can tell you the decade a song is from. Gets very difficult to do after 2000.....

I do find it kind of cool that the top two solo artists on the list are Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers (will allow that Jack White *is* The White Stripes, but still....).

Jack White's note to Olivia Rodrigo on SNL...

There hasn’t been a good Stones album since Some Girls
Some Girls is an absolute tour-de-force, no question, but...goodness, what about Undercover (Undercover and Some Girls are two albums I can listen to every song and not want to hit FF or skip to the next song)? Tattoo You has far too many good songs on it to not be considered "good," same with Dirty Work, which for some reason seems to get universally panned. Steel Wheels is great as well, and being a full digital recording, is sonically one of the best Stones albums ever. Their more recent stuff? Yeah, a bit "meh," but far better than most of the other crap being put out these days.

And I'm sure that old farts of 67, 69, 71, 72, and 73 would tell you how much the music sucked those years compared to when they were younger...
