Agreed, raise him and assistants base salary to top 20 in the nation and extend him another 3-4 years. Promise a set amount of NIL per year that competes with the top 8 teams average in the SEC, and incentives that make him a top 10 coach if met.
This all day long.

Every major program needing a coach is going to call Stein first. That includes texas, a&m, Michigan, and others. That's just the result of this incredible season and his approach to the new nil era. That said, firing elko or sark is a tough financial pill to swallow because its going to cost a fortune and both schools have meddling boosters which is why they both struggle hiring despite having a blank check

As long as we make his salary competitive, we should be ok for the next three years. That means raising him from 4.5 mil (an absolute steal and further proof Mitch had nothing to do with this hire) to 10+mil. I know its just one season but that is a very reasonable move and needed to ward off poachers.

Imo after year three, nfl draw is going to get tough. If that's a challenge he dreams of, money wont be enough to keep the nfl from hiring what they see as a better ben Johnson away.

There is no such thing as an NIL budget or limit.

It’s completely up to the donors as to what they will pay. They are going to pay whatever is needed for basketball just on history alone.

They will pay for value in football. UK is a basketball school and always will be. But UK fans/donors are starved for good football. They are now seeing it and how it resonates across the state. Right now football could get the blank check that basketball already has. And basketball would not suffer one but. It’s not an either/or to the money people. They want both and are willing to pay for it. Barney would screw this moment up. Thankfully he’s not around for that now.

You guys are worrying too much. It reminds me of when everyone thought Cal was leaving for the Cavs after just one season. Stein will not retire here. He will leave at some point and you have to expect it. Don't be naive.

But it won't be after just one season. Enjoy the ride

He’s not leaving for that job or any other college job. No reason to get panties in a wad.

This is the answer. Nice to see the voice of reason in an otherwise stupid thread. Stein is home. Kentucky knows how to reward him.

There is no need to continue to start stupid *** threads about him being hired away 8 games into his tenure.

The Aggies, and Longhorns for that matter, couldn’t even dominate the BIG12!

Sooners did!

All three are struggling in the SEC.

New era of college sports! Days of domination are over. Playing field has leveled. Lots of fan bases and programs used to cake walking through conference better start accepting the fact that things have changed. That goes for football and BASKETBALL!

The next coach in anything isn’t going to bring back the glory days. The modern structure just isn’t built to favor a handful of blue bloods.

NIL has been a godsend for the weaker programs in either sport.

It's coming, agents don't waste opportunities like this and Kentucky will have to pay to keep Stein and company plenty. Just stay away from the lifetime contracts, a pay bump and offer extremely lucrative incentives, bonuses and NIL.

I don't think there's any chance aTm moves on from Elko this year. I get the same feelings on Texas and Michigan as well.

Seems pretty simple to me. Pay him exactly the way he has the team preforming which is pretty elite, being his first year that is extremely positive and a great sign for the future. I’ve already seen enough with this staff that they can run a top program and call a game that meets SEC expectations. Give him the resources of the top half of the league to compete. Pay his assistants the same way to keep them as long as possible. Don’t extend him for 10 years, but lock him down a few years down the road. As long as he keep performing, extend him again when the original deal was supposed to end. Update the money as needed into the future.

Stein is off to a great start but we're 8 games in.
Lot of football yet to be played but there's no denying that the football gods have been kind to UK thus far.
I just don't get the paranoia about WS jumping ship this early.

He makes 5.5 plus incentives and his starting salary seems to be standard for first time head coaches.
