Conference Only Stats, both PSU and Purdue have bottom half defenses. PSU also has a bottom half offense (and the absolute worst RZ Offense), but....

....Purdue has the #3 Offense in the League. IOW, this likely translates as another Home Loss for PSU regardless of what the betting line says. The betting line is heavily influenced by PSU's huge Home-Field Advantage line impact but this has not translated this year - PSU is 0-2 outright to-date as a Home Favorite. The reality is that PSU's zero talent awful offense (especially in the RZ) and dreadful defense is a "bad matchup" against any team with a pulse.

No, it actually isn't.

Yes, it actually is. PSU gives as much as 7 points due to supposed Home Field Advantage (why we were favored over USC despite having a clearly inferior team). Home Field Advantage means absolutely nothing with this team because we have zero talent (specifically, the highly paid Free Agents Campbell brought in [his guys from ISU] are all duds). You'd have to be a serious masochist to bet on this team giving points - that or just stupid like you.

Early line is PSU -7.5 -- only a moron like you would take a team like PSU giving those kind of points. Again, PSU has the absolute worst RZ Offense in the b1g and a bottom-half defense. Purdue has the #3 Offense in the b1g (b1g Stats Only). Only a moron would bet PSU giving more than a TD.

First, curse you for making me take this person temporarily off ignore (you should try it, he's not worth your time).
Second, Any person that claims any HFA is worth 7 points has no idea what they are talking about and should absolutely never dabble in sports betting.
I give PSU HFA about -4.5 for a white out and that is tied with LSU night games for my highest HFA. One could argue that I'm a bit too high, but it's definitely not worth any more than that. My typical PSU HFA is about -3. Historically, a pretty standard number.

Purdue, Rutgers and Maryland are must win games .....period.
Split Washington and Minnesota and you are only 2 games worse than a disappointment.
9-3 was the common floor prediction for this team with an easy schedule.
Winning 4 of the final 5 or all 5 will result in the BWICAC organizing a victory parade.

He is? Because he put up impressive numbers against cupcakes? Becht even looked pretty good in those games. I hope you are right but we’ll see.

Hope he's back also, We need to see if he can shred weak Big Ten defenses (with perhaps the exception of a middle level Minny team) like he did vs Marshall and Buffalo. If so, we need to spend to keep him. There will be a considerable market. If not, then we need to go shopping.

Just read an excerpt from Campbell’s press conference where he was asked how he copes with the stress of a season like this and he said that’s one of the benefits of being a head coach for 15 years as he had to do a rebuild at Toledo and had to rebuild the program 3 times at ISU. My question is since he was the head coach the entire time shouldn’t the first rebuild have made the next two unnecessary during his tenure at ISU?

Well, his "first rebuild" here at PSU has been an abject failure - all of his ISU-recruited turned highly-paid PSU Free Agents, supposed "stars" have been complete duds in b1g play.....

BTW, isn't claiming a "rebuild" at Toledo a bit of an oxymoron??? He may have improved Toledo from a bad MAC and FBS team to a good MAC team and "okay" FBS team, but he certainly didn't "rebuild" them to past National Champion Contender because they never were that in the first place.

I think Campbell is probably a better coach than he is a public speaker. I've read some things in that regard from some ISU fans. I think far too many fans have lynched coaches for things they have said in moments of stress and perhaps should hold themselves to the same standard in their private and professional lives.
I disagree with his crutch leaning on rebuild. This is one of the most experienced teams in college football. Both in terms of snaps taken and starts. The QB has been widely touted as the "winningest QB" in college football and a 4 year starter in this system.
There is one very simple proof that Campbell and his staff never approached this season as a "rebuild."
He brought Becht and cut loose Grunk
If he deemed this a rebuild in January and he brought in Becht, then he's worse than I thought.

I get your point about how he may have misspoke and I certainly am not out to lynch him. However, he made the comments during his meeting with the press on a Tuesday after a bye week not while talking to the media immediately after a tough loss. As a 15 year head coach who has done this numerous times, it isn’t his first rodeo. I also agree that it is odd he would now bring up that this year was a “rebuild” for all the reasons mentioned in your post.

I guarantee he had no clue the scrutiny he would face here.Wait till next year.

Lots of pretty sharp “morons” on PSU this week…up to -9.5 now.
