Now that Coach Cig doesn’t have a Heisman Trophy qb. . .

When he hand picked the QB that's a tough sell in year 3 of a program
They struggled with Nebraska, Northwestern and Michigan--impressed they found ways to win and Northwestern's a legit top 20-30 team but genius coaches typically don't struggling against a team like Nebraska in particular.
We'll see how they finish the year--pretty easy schedule the rest of the way. USC and Minnesota are their biggest challenges.
Who cares if they struggled? They won, and the OSU game could have gone either way. What’s he has done with that program is pretty remarkable.

Yes, what he and Mark Cuban have done is remarkable
Why do the people saying the Ohio State game could have gone either way have an issue with the reality that Michigan Nebraska and Northwestern could have as well? Make it make sense

Why can't people give credit where credit is due? Why do people think they know everything and are never wrong? Are you the same poster who got banned on the Rivals boards under a different name?

Nope--I've never had another name here--I even made it clear who I was. Why would I have been banned?
Am I not giving credit where it was due? Explain. Cig is a great coach and has greatly benefited from Cuban's desire to build a winner. Is any of that untrue? Don't Cuban and Cig deserve credit? Just like Pegula deserves credit for our success?
I'm often wrong--said we won't lose the Wisconsin game--I just own it.
Now I answered your questions--answer mine. Why is it okay to excuse the Ohio State loss and talk about how it could have been a win but acknowledging they could have lost to Nebraska, Northwestern and Michigan is dismissed by saying "they won" by the same people who don't accept "they lost". Can't have it both ways. Both views are true. They could be undefeated. They could have 3 or 4 losses but sit at 7-1 with some major questions.

I literally just posted this in a different thread, but this is the worst of the three portals qbs for Cignetti. This guy looks very average out there. Similar to Becht, the lights seem to be a little too bright for him on this stage.
He wasn't and was never going to be Mendoza but I think some need to realize he's hurt and his arm was hanging on by a thread. I think they threw 1 pass in the 2nd half and that was in OT.

You can say it's Cuban all you want, but it's Cignetti. He tried to tell you 3 years ago.

"Google me."

What would have happened if somehow IU delayed their coaching change and JMU Cig was still available last year?

Would any of you been on board? Truthfully, me - maybe. I'd have preferred Urban or some "moon shot", but I'd have been fine with Cig if that's what it came to.

It's both--you don't win at a program like Indiana without Cuban bankrolling it or a coach like Cignetti. Period.
So recruits don't want to go to IU to win games and championships? Just to get paid? They can get paid anywhere.

Without the money they don't win championships. They wouldn't have had Mendoza.
And, no, you can't get paid anywhere--if so NIL wouldn't matter.

Tamu, Miami, TX, ALA, LSU, OK, MI, tOSU, USC, ORE, and on and on - they can all pay what IU pays.

Why aren't they 34-3?

Again--because of both of them. Spending money is pointless without the right coach as we saw with Franklin last year. Having a great coach is pointless without having money. Not sure why you're refusing to acknowledge Cuban's money is important and they need both.

Cuban could disappear tomorrow and the rest of the alumni would step in now that they have something to support.

Carl Cook has probably given more to IU than Cuban. And he's a PU grad.
Cook isn't bankrolling Indiana football
He helps with fundraisers and funded their facility for basketball---he'd obviously wouldn't stop assisting but he has zero interest in what Cuban does. Which is to fully fund the football program.
It clearly helps to have 2 guys compared to just Pegula but I'm not convinced you understand what Cuban is doing here
Although--when I first said Cuban was bankrolling the football program I was told I was wrong so...

You are actually talking to AI. It has to respond to everything presented to it and clarify all situations.

Fair...one can also argue they easily could have 3 losses right now and probably should
But they don't and that is the point. He wins close games. The sign of an excellent coach because his teams are mentally tough. They persevere. Just as you blame the HC when big games are lost in crunch time you give credit to the HC when big games are won in crunch time.

Yesterday, Indiana makes the plays in OT and Michigan didn't. Indiana also came up with the big sack on the 3rd down forcing Michigan to kick a tying FG and not win it on that drive.

Versus Nebraska they stormed back from down 17-6 with 12 minutes to go getting an "answer" TD on the very first play after the TD.m to spark their comeback.

Like Kirby losing to Auburn. He's a genius but somehow lost (at home).

Let's just wait on Cig this year. Barring a total collapse this season he will have taken the doormat of all doormat programs meaning the losingest program of all time to the playoffs 3 out of 3 years with a natty thrown in. C"mon now! Whether he is a genius or not he is a great coach.

Sure--no one said he wasn't a great coach
It's obvious you don't like him and love to be the contrarian on this but you look stupid trying to negate all the positive comments about Cignetti. Genius coaches don't typically struggle with a team like Nebraska; it is pretty easy to coach with an elite QB if you don't sabotage them. Dude you clearly want to minimize what he is doing and take a negative slant on it all. Kinda weird but have at it.

The fact that this has to be stated is ridiculous.

This doesn't even make sense--he's a great coach--he's not on Kirby's level--yet
I said repeatedly both Cig and Cuban get credit yet somehow that's an insult.

He is right as rain but you keep on digging that hole, it looks good on you.
You can make any false claim you want--doesn't bother me
When people take a simple thread and start pretending there was some "attack" on Cignetti there's an issue.
He's a great coach. Indiana is lucky to have him. They're also lucky to have Cuban. Even if no one will admit that.

Why so angry? You should just be honest and admit you were wanting to degrade Cignetti, no need to backtrack now. It is ok, we know what you are about.

This is the part of game where you confused the two of us and bash me for who you are.

Wait--"genius" is simply beating Michigan in OT
I give him credit for winning a game but to give Hoover any credit today is a major reach. He was awful--period.
Didn't they call like 20 straight running plays down the stretch to keep the important stuff out of Hoover's hands?
