The season isn’t done (except for any chance at the playoffs, which I never thought they would make, anyway). There is still hope for 9-3, and even a very slim chance at 10-2.

Throwing Sullivan or Bessinger out there would be a disaster, IMO. Give them reps in any blowouts, yes. Otherwise have a true QB competition in camp next year.
10-2 aint happening. But yes you're right about a chance at 9-3. More likely we lose 2 more to get the typical 8-4. So what does it matter really? One of heck or Hank is going to bolt after the season anyway. Just wasting time

Let's play this out.... H or H plays next 2 years. Then you are playing Sullivan or Bessinger with no experience in 3 years. How is that any different than them playing now?

Sure...they have a couple more years in the program but they won't have any meaningful playing time. And now you are back to where you would be this year

If the argument is....well next year they will battle for the starting spot. If they have any chance to beat out H or H next spring ...then they are competent enough to play now for a few series to see how they do.

That's all I'm saying. If they all suck....then just hit the portal in the off-season. You'll at least have ammo to better make that financial decision

Run game was pathetic is their an iowa law that was passed that says you cant run outside the tackles, same old year after year no matter the players with the pass game stinking it up with bad playcalling and qb play

Let's not let the coaches off the hook here. Yes the players made many mistakes but Kirk and Co. were thoroughly outcoached by Minnesota. They had our offense on lockdown the entire game.
They almost looked like they had a tell exposed. Knew when we were going to that bootleg TE pass every time.

Lol like Hank was any better. I wish Kirk would just come out and admit Hank is his favorite. I would actually have more respect

But ultimately it doesn't matter. Both QBs are so average...at best. Do we really have to put up with one of these guys the next 2 years?

Let's rip the bandaid off and start playing Sullivan or Bessinger if they have shown any ability to be decent QBs. No harm in trying to play for the futurr at this point. Season is done anyway for any meaningful outcome
100%. Maybe you find something in the others ….these 2. No.

why do you say that?
I think he deserved to work a little more in this game to see if he could get out of his funk. Both quarterbacks aren’t power4 quarterbacks, but somehow they’re on the Iowa roster which we know our quarterback evaluation is the worst in the Big Ten. So there might be a slight chance that Kirk and Company made a mistake by pulling him today. The results couldn’t have been any worse cause we lost.

A play action pass in the first half set up Diaz for a wide open pass for an easy TD. Good blocking gave Heck a solid pocket to deliver the ball. What happened? His throw wasn't even close. RVZ drops a pass in his hands that bounces to a Gopher DB in the 2nd half.

I don't understand why everyone is sold on Heck. He's extremely inconsistent and Brown is just marginally better.

And whose fault is it that these are the QBs we have to choose from?

The one thing I was worried about was player execution coming out of the bye.

You can blame Kirk for the dogsh** record in bye games, and there is a common theme with his players' lack of execution.

However, I think even the coaches were befuddled at our players' stupidity today.

There were a number of shots of the staff on the sidelines with frustrated coordinators and Kirk at our mistakes and lack of execution.

And of course there's the shots of Kirk wincing every time Hecklinski did something against his liking, such as when he chose to pitch the ball to Ostrenga (I believe???) at the last second for a 7 yd gain, on a play that could've easily resulted in an illegal forward pass or fumble, because it was that close.

I think that play, more than anything, is what led to Heck having such a short leash today, at least based on Kirk's reaction..........
