Hopefully Luke's issues this match weren't related to a tough descent, or a season making 125 might be in jeopardy. This is obviously just speculation on my part and your results may vary.

Bassett losing wasn't on my bingo card. He thought he would lose 3-3 but he had the takedown. He made a mistake there

JFC that was dumb.

Better now than at SRs though.

Even giving up one is better than 4. Sheeeeeesh
That guy was 2021 u17 world silver at 60 but that's all he's done. He lost 12-0 at u20 in 2023 to Ogino Japan 12-0 . Now they wrestle in the semis

Seemed like Luke was content to hold center and use collar ties in the second. He’s great when he is attacking and pushing the action, but he shut it down the second period.

I was referring to Bassett’s freaking dive roll to give up 4, when he was up by criteria
Sorry you are right, I missed that. Super dumb. Just hop out with 2 seconds left and win on criteria.

I was wondering why he wasn’t trying to score the second period. Not like him.

We had super high hopes for this team but most have crashed and burned. Gold for Davino and James would be nice. I definitely didn’t have Luke or Bassett losing especially fairly early on. Weird tournament so far
I keep looking and Bassett is set to wrestle the 1/4 round against Jaskararan?

India wins and keeps Sealey alive. Unfortunately India will be a definite underdog in the semis against Yousefi from Iran

Yeah, wow, so much for this being the strongest U23 team ever. Good to see James and Davino, but a total dud from a team standpoint just like U17.

Luke is back in. I have a feeling he's gonna be the only one pulled back in. @zzs006 you think anyone else gets back in?
I don’t see Sealey getting pulled in unfortunately. Yousefi is super tough

Maybe Jordan Williams. I’m super high on Gaidarli. He’s the guy PJ beat in the U20 finals and he’s continued to get better but the Russian he is facing is elite as well. Toss up match in my opinion. Gaidarli beat the Russian 3-2 in the U23 euro finals

Khateri from Iran with a crazy comeback to make the 65kg finals. Khateri was at 61kg at U20’s and lost to Seidel first round. It was super tight in the first period and then Seidel blew it open. With Khateri up at 65kg I assume he was pulling a ton of weight

79 kilogram qualification round match: Joe Sealey (USA) vs. Chandermohan (India)

First period
There is some kind of stoppage seven minutes into the match. There appears to be some kind of a tech issue, perhaps the scoreboard or something. Not sure. Thus is a lengthy delay now, though. Alright, now we're getting back to action.

Both wrestlers are very active with their hands early in this one. Sealey tries to trip, can't, tries a low single, can't get there, and then Sealey is warned for passivity. Next one will put him on the clock. On the restart he again shoots but can't get there. Sealey si now put on the clock at the 4:37 mark of the first. Chandermohan shoots on a single that Sealey is desperately trying to fight off, and he does, only giving up a stepout in the process. The clock expires shortly after and it is 2-0 Chandermohan at the 4:00 mark. Chandermohan quickly shoots and drives Sealey of the edge for a 3-0 lead at 3:57. Sealey shoots on a low single that Chandermohan counters on and scores a takedown for a 5-0 lead and is trying to get the leg laces going. As he does, though, the referee stops the action. Not sure why, but it's good for Sealey.

Chandermohan leads 5-0 at the break.

Second period
Sealey tries to throw Chandermohan by early in the second and a scramble ensues but neither wrestler gets control. It's still 5-0. Now Sealey is in on a low single but Chandermohan fends it off pretty easily with two minutes to go. Sealey shoots again but can't get to Chandermohan, who is doing a great job holding center and now races behind Sealey for a takedown and rolls him for four, and that's that.

Chandermohan beats Sealey 11-0.
BS. Sealey was doing all the shooting in the 1st and got put on the clock. Hate freestyle

My most anticipated match of the whole event is coming up next between Azimi of Iran and Khaniev of Russia. Khaniev beat Snyder earlier this year. Azimi won senior Asians this year and lost a 5-5 criteria match to Hidlay this year. 2 of the very best guys in the world
