It’s hard to believe that somebody who “grew up” in the house that Cael built would think that a public challenge would be the way to get PSU’s attention! Ego and arrogance are always the enemies of success.
DT's "public challenge" was not designed or strategized to compel any action by Cael Sanderson; dude knows better. As you note in your first sentence.

Your second sentence doesn't fit, imo. DT's got plenty of ego, both needed for AND earned from many years in the sport, and there's no indication at all that he's out over his skis in his current role. Dude's gonna have mad success.

It was for his own team, his own fans, fans of other programs who hate Penn State, and a few fans of Penn State. With 100 pts of weight to distribute, I'd call it something like this:

Maybe maybe not. Either way doesn’t mean he should.
Sitting next to Cale in the bleachers a number of years ago, Iowa isn't wrestling PSU that year and has refused to travel to State College. A comment made by Cael was that as the two top stewards of wrestling, Penn State and Iowa should wrestle every year. Always.

Right now the top two stewards are PSU and OkieSt.

I have posted my opinion here and discussed with friends. If Taylor really wants to wrestle PSU in a dual, he made a huge mistake not bringing some of his guys to this event.
I’m not sure his wrestlers not attending really makes a difference in whether of not DT can arrange a dual meet vs. PSU but it certainly doesn’t help.

Don't be stupid, at least intentionally.
Sorry, maybe it wasn't intentional.

Oklahoma St wrestling has the history to always be viewed as a wrestling steward.

Fing idiot.

Keep shaking your head, maybe something will clang.

Okie state would probably be willing to head over to Penn state from the sounds of DT, that is if Cael ever accepts the challenge.
Taylor doesn’t want a PSU match this year…by talking tough and calling out in public, it’s obvious to anyone with a brain that Taylor is just playing a game. He gets to look tough in front of the world while ensuring that his team doesn’t get exposed by PSU this year.

It’s a cute and effective to the ignorant masses, but it truly exemplifies the main difference between David and Cael. While they are both phenomenal head coaches, Cael will always have something that David lacks…true authenticity. While both have top tier competitiveness and work ethic, Taylor will always have that tremendous ego to avoid tripping over.

Wow.. I’m just a neutral fan of this but the way people are able to frame things to their beliefs is incredible… lol..

So according to you, Taylor was bluffing about ever wanting a match bc he’s expecting Cael to say no, but if Cael knows Taylor is bluffing Cael could rebluff— saying he accepts the match knowing Taylor would then run away and stop continuing to talk tough and ensuring his Cowboys doesnt get exposed by PSU this year. Some 4D Chess right there ;). Rebluff the Bluff ;p

Sounds straight out of a Peter Ustinov script. Romanoff and Juliet (1961). I’m picturing Basch as the General, Willie as Otto, and Pyles as Otto’s son. Pat Mineo would be a good fit as the Soviet spy. It really is a top notch Cold War satire and I cannot recommend it enough.

Aren’t Stanich and Bassett wrestling two weeks earlier when VT visits Lehigh? What’s the point of having them wrestle again for an exhibition?
Maybe Bassett vs Mendez makes sense here. The Ohio executive order can provide cover for it, and the NCAA can't really punish Ohio State for participating in an exhibition match.

Besides, Mendez is the most skilled wrestler in the country, just ask Tan Tom.

Taylor announcing in the summer that he wants to wrestle PSU this year is nothing more than grandstanding on his part. The reason, at that point in the summer, the schedule is basically done for the season. He knows this. Nothing more than trying to get some publicity.

Nope…by publicly calling out Cael, Taylor knew that Cael couldn’t accept a dual this year because it would have made Cael his puppet. Cael would look weak by appeasing Taylor and granting him his wish.

If Taylor truly wanted a dual this year, he would have approached it very differently. I don’t think this is very difficult to understand.

His puppet huh.. ok lol.. so what’s the reason why Cael can’t accept the dual the year after then?

Just like nobody from Iowa called Brooks. If David really wanted to wrestle Penn State the first thing he should have tried is calling Cody. Having failled to do that it is rather easy to conclude David had no interest in wrestling PSU this year.

shaking my head to clear it of your silly pontification. here are the stewards finishes last 20 years:

20085th
200916th
20106th
20114th
20126th
20132nd
20143rd
20157th
20162nd
20173rd
201813th
20193rd
2020Tournament canceled
20213rd
202214th
202318th
202410th
20253rd
quite the stewards. people do not always have to agree with you silliness. I guess the 24 natty won by Iowa does or does not make them a steward any more? How bout those stewards of the NFL? you know Green Bay and Chicago since they have won the most championships. how bout them yankees? 27 champs, most ever. none in last 15 years and only one appearance which they lost. great stewards. smh. just another TikTok/ snapchat, what happening now, band wagon jumper. Also, you really only have to post an item once. no need to have multiple posts of the same thing. unless that whiskey comment carries some truth in which case I understand the multiple problems.

Obviously, the head shaking didn't cause a clank shaking anything loose and awake. You are still full of **** and dumber than hell if you don't understand Okie State's history, combined with the last 2 years performances and the future sightline makes OSU a steward. But you keep being you. Generally speaking stupid is never good at self recognition. I don't want you straining.

by all means don't let facts interfere with your pride and ego. just keep talking louder and louder and name calliing like a 3rd grader. I printed the cowboys recent (20 years) performances for those who have an hard time conceptualizing things in their brains which might be the issue with you. irregardless, I an done with the back and forth with you. it's like dueling an unarmed man. Perhaps crawl back in your hole until the cowboys prove their relevance let alone stewardship.
