This is what will happen. Exactly like this.

Pope will beat Kansas. The pumpers will come in flocks saying told you so. Then he will get blown out by a middle pack team. Then he will win two or three against nobody's. Then he will get blown out again . We start sec play with about 4 losses.

Then we lose another 7 to 8 games in conference play. We might play on Thursday if he can tie for seventh this year and not lose the tie breaker lol. Hampton will reopen his recruitment. We flame out of the sec tournament then lose in the first round of the tournament.

12 to 15 losses. The fans that can see the obvious are Pope bashers. The Homers will say give him a chance for whatever excuse happens during the season.

Let's not forget all the goofy press conferences he will have talking about how Mom beat him in chess.

Yea im a Pope basher. Get that dork out of Lexington. Want UK to win. Wya Jai Lucas???

That’s a recipe for disaster, but I get the options are extremely limited. Neither of those two guys have the skillset to play as the secondary handler.
Maybe 6 minutes per game and neither are likely to be any worse than what we had on the bench last year since JJ was the only reserve guard most of the season. I don't think it's a deal breaker; we still have enough horses.

We have 3
One of those three is a frosh that hasn’t played a second and wasn’t highly rated. We are being forced fed that he’s going to be a stud, but if you watched the scrimmage there’s really nothing to suggest to he’s anything more than a 4 star frosh. It’s no knock on the kid, but to be THE ONLY guard off the bench on a really good team…that’s a tough mountain to climb.

Probably not a good sign when you say “Neither are likely to be any worse than what we had on the bench last year.” after what happened last season.

Those two guys were on the roster last year as well, and JJ was still a better option AS A GUARD than they were. Don’t forget that.

If either of those two guys average 6 mins a game as a backup guard, that’s a really bad thing. 6 mins completely out of position as a guard is a big deal again even an average SEC team.

The 2012 team is amazing to me, not just for what they did on the court, but there was little to no bench.
We had Eloy Vargas, Miller, Polson, Wiltjer and Twanny, plus 2 walk ons iirc.
If any of our starters got hurt, we would have been in trouble.
The 26/27 team has much better depth, but it's still way too thin at guard for my liking.

Im not so sure this is a "really good" team at all. Let's see what they do against legit competition and the sec.
