The problem is Stein is really, legitimately, a guy that can win as many titles as his program can fund. That’s the worry. Will Stein be here in 20 years? I don’t know, I doubt it. The good news is SEC programs are not stepping stones anymore outside of Vandy. You can win at them all and right now because it’s a newer concept, programs like Kentucky can offer security and as much earned income as anyone. That’s what we have going for us. We can pay a coach a Texas salary and he maintains security there forever. So there’s that.
problem is recourses and funding so he can win the championships he wants. We cannot buy rosters like UT, Texas, LSU etc. Kiffin explained this situation when he left ole miss. So there’s your problem.
NFL for a guy like stein would be a hard denial. At his age being an NFL head coach is something in highly doubt he wouldn’t want. I know know why, the NFL really sucks and it’s just a business. You can’t win constantly it’s why Saban left but coaches still want to say they coached in the NFL.
Kentucky is actually doing some good things with resources unlike other programs. They’re just throwing cash and we’re being more creative and skipping the money machine. If Kentucky wants to keep stain, you have to fully commit to winning at all cost, stadium upgrade to normal SEC standards (getting better). Barnhart lowering the capacity is already biting us so did that and make plans to horseshoe the stadium. Upgrade promises at all avenues, top 3 salary, and find a way that he can fund the ships. We’re moving in positive directions there, like I said for years you just have to get Barnhart out of here to take these steps.
We’ll see. Maybe he just flat out wants to build his own, where he’s from; where his family is from. I have no idea but something tells me we’ll find out over the next few seasons.
The good news is these teams throwing hundreds of millions of booster money into this is slowing I think. Booster fatigue is real and that’s why we’re all just waiting on something to break and stabilize the game. I do believe something will
Happen. And if it does while stien is here and the field of play is back to somewhat level, there’s no reason at all to leave UK for any program unless it’s in the NFL. And only he knows that answer.
