Be that as it may, there's no substitute for the staying-power (fame-wise) of starring at your home state school in terms of future endeavors, in that same state, beyond your playing days. If Seneca is good at OU, not legendary, but good, and has a cup of coffee in the NFL, very few in the state of Oklahoma would take care of him after his playing days like they would in KY if he has the same type of career. Not sure why this is hard to understand. Say again, $1million now would be a bad financial decision.
Lets say he gets hurt at OU in like his second year. Career never works out there. Anyone going to take care of him down the road in that state? I doubt it. But simply signing on the dotted line for UK, even if he never plays a snap, is signing a contract for a lifetime of opportunities in this state if he plays his cards right. It demonstrates a loyalty and a love for home. People respect that. They love it.
I remember my dad predicting Tim Couch would go to UK because he sensed that he would feel that need to represent his state, his people, by attending it's flagship school.
I said the same thing of Travis Perry's decision to transfer. The kid was the all-time leading scorer in the state. Committing to UK, regardless of his success, was a ticket to financial success in this state (assuming he takes advantage) forever.
