You don't really believe this. And I can prove it.
Should fans support Woody Hayes when he punched someone during a bowl game?
Should fans support Paterno when they learned he knew back in 1999 that he had a Pedo on his staff and then lobbied for this truth to be kept secret, enabling more abuse on PSU property?
Should fans support Bob Commings and demand he be retained as head coach back in the day ?
Should fans support Lickliter ??????
I'm not saying KF is any of the people listed above, I'm correctly pointing out you don't believe your own shtick. You have a slavish devotion to a name attached to a fictional character in your mind. He's a God to you ... literally. Maybe KirkisGod was taken when you went looking for a moniker, but your relationship to the Hawkeye sporting universe is not healthy, nor is it in anyway (adult) in nature.
It's like a child who worships someone because the compound they grew up in demands that level of irrational fealty in order to be declared a member of the cult.
SPORTS = ENTERTAINMENT.
It does not equal a religion. But for you, and other sesame street characters like you, it is a religion.
You want more (adults) on this board? Be one.
Who would have guessed? The one time I don't qualify my statement, someone will jump at it. You guys are so predictable.
Yes, absent of morality, citizenship, etc issues within the program, the role of the fan is to support. You really got me on that one.
Of course support Lickliter. That's actually what made me join this site, shortly after Fran was hired. I had read the board, but never posted, for many years before that.
But I was so upset about fans having abandoned Lickliter, that I didn't want to see it happen with Fran.
So I started posting, in attempts to reunite Hawk fans.
Clearly, I had no idea what I was in for.
Was too young to remember the last of the Commings years. But again, absent any moral type issues, I don't see why Hawk fans wouldn't have supported their team. Wouldn't it be a fan's instinct to root even harder for their team when they know it's needed?
And just because you don't seem to understand what the very simple role of the fan is, does not mean you need to accuse me of worshipping anything.
Was it worship when I called out KF, after the Michigan game, for playing TB while he was obviously hurt?
