Those of you who took the time to laugh at my posts explaining how Hecklinski is Iowa's best QB may post your apologies at any time. You should know by now that when it comes to evaluating talent, especially QB talent, I'm right about 99 percent of the time. KF? Not so much. Kyle McCann, Jake Christensen, Jake Rudock, Spencer Petras, Deacon Hill (!) . . . and then game manager Hank Brown. That's KF's record. Ain't that somethin'?

From the time Hecklinski led that 75-yard TD drive vs. Ohio State's starting defense to KF turtling last night, the offense under Hecklinski has been multifaceted and dynamic. And yet, had Brown not suffered a boo-boo, Hecklinski would have been on the bench again last night, and Iowa would have been in a battle they probably would have lost.

BTW: It's fourth and 1 in the 4th, you have a comfortable lead, you've been running all over the Washington defense, so what do you do? If you're 99 percent of college football coaches, you go for it. But if you're Kirk Ferentz you "play it safe." You go embarrassingly conservative yet again. You hope to get an offside call and, when you don't, you punt.

KF says he's not in the entertainment business, but he's wrong on that too. And not only is he losing fans with his boring, ultraconservative schtick, but he's losing recruits. Who the hell wants to punt on 4th and 1 in that situation? Why, KF of course.

Nice West Coast win, but it should have been more like 55-18 instead of 41-24. But that's what we've seen from KF for 28 years, and it will never change.

BTW: Who's laughing now? I am. LOL

Seriously, can I ask you one question?

What is your fundamental problem with KF?

That's what should be getting discussed here. Because your anger for him sabotages the specific thoughts you try to communicate.

Most of those thoughts are ridiculous and don't deserve consideration anyway.

But it's hard to take much of what you say seriously, when it's so obvious that your thoughts have originated and flowed from a pool of anger within with you.

So, what's your problem with KF?

Life's too short. I'd hate to see you spend your hours bitter at a HOF coach. Let the healing begin

slow down fella, I have always said if a bench player beats out a starter then the hawks are better off. I hope whoever is qb plays very good to great, not worrying about fan bragging rights

Too many wide open TD. I can tell you by watching KF for 28 years, he will put hank brown in if healthy. 100 percent will do it. Start him as well.
Yeah, I don't think there's any precedent in the KF era where a QB lost his starting job following an injury.

Brown will be given the opportunity against Minnesota in two weeks unless his injury lingers or Hecklinski shines in the only proving ground that matters to Kirk.................."practice".

In Duke's defense, KF's handling of QB's for the last 20+ years, has driven me insane also.

KF has a long and illustrious history of falling in love with the 2nd best QB on Iowa's roster.
He obviously has a method to the madness . Maybe we , as fans, don’t get to see it. Behind the scenes.

Let's look at January of 2015.

In that month, KF announced publicly that Beathard would be Iowa's starting QB for the 2015 season.

Why on earth would KF have any inclination to make that announcement 8 months before the season??

Here's why: Beathard had told KF he was going to transfer. Iowa football had been trending down since 2010. 2014 was awful. KF's seat was warm. KF had, up to this point, been showing a preference for Rudock to be QB1, over Beathard.

In January 2015 he had to truly decide which QB, Beathard or Rudock, gave Iowa their best chance to win. KF had to make the public announcement, or lose CJ Beathard,

He then (finally) went with Beathard.

(It's not a stretch to assume that, had Beathard transferred, Rudock would have stayed... is it?)

Seems like Christiansen might have been the same. Like I said, there is a method to these things

I don't necessarily agree with everything you said, but KF will get the last 'laugh' when Brown is gifted his job back when 'healthy'. Unfortunately KF has been doing that for 3 decades. Only death or loss of limbs qualifies one to lose his job.

KF is a great man, and a leader, and does much with so much less. But yes, certain idiosyncrasies he has can drive us nuts. I still love the man, just not some of his decisions. But I suppose every fanbase has gripes with their coaches, no matter how successful.

Again, no sense it adding context to the trolls agenda. Not only was it Lesters decision to start Brown, but we weren't playing OSU or Michigan yesterday. I don't care who they play. Its obvious we can win with either, and if one is struggling we do have a bull pen guy for the first time in a long time.
