because we have a run defense while ignoring the glaring fact that we have zero pass defense
South Carolina at Florida
South Carolina started the season 2-0, but has since lost three consecutive games. Florida, on the other hand, is 4-1 after a 4-0 start followed by a blowout loss to Missouri last week. Dylan Stewart is expected to return for the Gamecocks, and that’ll be a big boost for that defense. If the unit can contain Florida’s run game built around Jadan Baugh, Pate believes South Carolina has a shot to pull off the upset in Week 6.“I’m not ready to call for the upset, because South Carolina doesn’t beat SEC teams anymore,” Pate said. “They’ve lost 10 of their last 11. So I’m not ready to do that, but I am ready to point out some facts… Can Florida run the ball? Well in general, yeah, they can. Last week, no they couldn’t. They had 25 carries for 42 yards against Missouri… (South Carolina) is a top 30 run defense.”
