Win or lose, 4A is special in this area. Don’t know much about Tuscola, but four of the top ten teams (Max Preps) are an hour and a half from each other or less.
Any staunch high school football fan is going to feel blessed to be at some of these games around Thanksgiving week… It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see West Iredell, Hibriten, Burns or Cramer (no certain order) represent the West.

Side note: Watched East Lincoln at West Iredell on NFHS. What jumped out at me about West was there speed on offense and defense.

I'm still picking Hickory and said before and forgot to say that WI was not tested til EL but Id say Maiden gave them some test in that shutout, and EL could have and prob should have won in a CLOSE one. They had some missed chances like a major pick 6 drop and few other things. I'm happy for the WI community though, I've had plenty of way down the line relatives come through that school and they've not had much to cheer about for a while up til last year and this year.

Nah..... you're good, definitely happy for West Iredell success this season for sure. I actually picked them to finish 3rd in the conference before the season started, I seen the potential last season honestly.

What jumped out to me was that back for WI is a load to tackle. Better hit him before he gets downhill.

So is power-speed combo back in Alexander Central’s Jaquis Parks. The Hickory line clogged up the middle that week and the linebackers made stops and kept him from turning the corner. I remember having to tackle Matthew Woodlief back in the day, you can't run without your legs, "the low man wins" sinking your hips, bending at the knees and ankles, and driving your shoulder or arms into the ball carrier thighs, hips, or legs rather than hitting their upper body.

Watching his highlights I'm seeing a lot of guys grabbing him high, trying to hit him high without wrapping up.

I agree with this EL was arm tackling and getting free ride going high. He showed good balance carrying tacklers lol

I hope everyone understands how fun this conference is. I feel like we should have discussed some of the other games too! I truly feel like Bunker Hill-Newton and North Lincoln-Bandys are gonna go to the wire as well. Tough picks!

I’ll take East Lincoln…hoping Foard is still pumped up from that Bandys win and gives those Mustangs an absolute fit!

I’m taking Bunker Hill at home. It’s a tossup…and both the Bears and the Red Devils need this win desperately! It’s gonna be a barn burner.

I’m taking Bandys at home. The Knights ain’t gonna give it to them though! Heckuva game right here! Y’all wait and see.

I ain’t picked against Hickory in years….well…I take that back…I did take Maiden with a heart pick last year. The Boom Devils had ‘em down 21-7 at half…Ugh!… that Jumbo in the 2nd half changed all that!😂Regrettably…I haven’t seen West Iredell with my own eyes this year. I’m judging simply by the result against Maiden. You do realize that the 37-0 score was at half…the only thing that slowed West Iredell down was the running clock in the 2nd half. However…I did see Hickory…and I’ve stated what I thought. Of course ole Gore says that my eyes have deceived me.😂 Ole Duck knows how I feel about onside kicks and trick plays…I called Watauga out on it a few years back…I believe the term I used was “Carnival Ball”.

The onside kick is chicanerous…in nature…and wreaks with the essence of skullduggery!

👆that’s funny right there! 😂

That settles it…I’m taking West Iredell!

East Lincoln big Foard falls back to earth.
Newton will lose to Bunker Hill on bunker Hill homecoming. Athletes on both sides but Newton doesn't play defense.
Bandy's rebounds against North. North couldn't cover their on dignity if they had oversized blanket.
Shelby coming hard tonight
Hibriten easy
Cramer against the power of Lincoln county the West side 😂
And last but not least West over hickory. Could be interesting chippy game and possible fireworks
Hopefully I can make some gains this week

I expect to see a huge crowd tonight at Frank Barger Stadium in the great city of Hickory North Carolina, though the October Fest starts today, but come see some great Football tonight, two great teams, with great players on both teams competing 🏈
