That's a good synopsis of the segmentation of supposed "fans". The BGJ group is amazing to me. The boyfriend who cheats on you constantly (losing every big game) yet now you want him back. Unbelievable.
Look at the bright side. We won't have to worry about losing any more big games for a long damn time.

We won't be IN any big games, but we won't lose them either.

Objective criticism, sure. Saying that the stadium will be half empty for the Whiteout on Saturday night or predicting that we won't win a Big Ten game this season is far from "objective criticism".

He's also misrepresenting the quote from Campbell back then. Campbell said, and I quote, "i never said winning the big 1w was my goal and it never will be, being the best version of ourselves is my goal." Its sort of process over results philosophy that a lot of really successful people amd organization mold to, and at a place like Iowa state, it makes a ton of sense. Sorry to Kevin Horne or whoever, but setting the goal of Winning a national championship every year isnt sustainable and I would think hurts the odd of the team ever rebounding after a loss. Campbell is not above criticism, even this early here, but we should be honest about what he says.
you are correct; Pat “Fanboy” Kraft promised that. I sure hope last Friday wasn’t the best version of Penn State this season.

In this thread, we had a "we can downgrade the program from being annually competitive nationally and in the b1g to being completely uncompetitive on both sides of the LOS to the point where we could easily go 0-fer the rest of the year as uncompetitive as we look (this defense is slow, soft and bad -- and the offense isn't any better, care to guess how badly we've been outscored the last 6 quarters? So if we go 0-fer in the b1g and look utterly uncompetitive in doing it, we should wait and see if we can become more uncompetitive in 2027 and 2028??? "

I know this is unpopular but I can't rationalize why Kraft should be fired now. Why exactly? Because he screwed up the search for a new football coach a year ago? So let's follow that logic train.

He screwed it up how? By going after Sitake or not getting Chesney or someone else? Okay let's go with that. So we know at this point and time those guys would do much better than Campbell in the long run. Right, the long run. Can't be after 2 games or do you feel you have enough data after 2 games to conclude the Campbell hire is a failure? Hmmm. But I thought we needed at least 3 years? By the way, firing Kraft now would look like a panic ridiculous move.

Oh, you are saying because Campbell would be doing better if Kraft hired him in October or if we hired someone else in October? By doing that the new guy would have kept the entire team and '26 recruiting class in tact and we would be a top 5 team now? You really think that was happening? So we don't fire Kraft in November but wait until now to fire him? Or we should have fired him in November and not let him finish the search? Then we don't have an AD or a football coach? Most thought Campbell was a good hire, right? But now he is a bad hire.....after 2 bad games? What has changed since Campbell was hired to fire Kraft now?

Kraft is not untouchable and I'm not some huge Kraft fan. Never met the man and he has no idea who I am. I'm not a friend or family member of his nor connected to him in any way.

He has done nothing with PSU hoops and this stadium renovation was too big of a project costing too much money. But didn't the board approve the stadium project?

I will say that if Kraft cannot juice the NIL coffers and get us into the top 15 in NIL support then I would support firing him and keeping Campbell if we are hamstrung by that. But that is probably 2 years out.

The fact of the matter is that after Kraft fired BGJ which most logical people agreed with including all his bosses then his job hinged on the success of the new hire. The search was bumpy, I will grant you that, but you don't fire him in the middle of it. He got Campbell. And we don't know how Campbell is going to turn out so I don't see why logically you fire Kraft now.
Kraft screwed the firing and hiring up 3 ways to Sunday. A professional would have fired Franklin at the end of the season while developing a list by contacting agents to see who might be interested, fire Franklin immediately after the last game and announcing that a new coach would be promptly hired so as to try to salvage as many verbals as possible and enable the new coach to get a better start on the portal and then complete the interviews and hire a new coach within a week. He then compounded the lunacy of the mid-season firing by issuing a press release saying Franklin was fired for not meeting the standard of winning Big and National Championships and saying at a press conference the next day that the fans deserve a National Championship. This created unrealistic expectations among the fanboys many of whom posted here frequently before the season about how this could be a playoff season and probably explains why some fans were booing Campbell as he left the field after the Wisky loss (which he sure doesn’t deserve). My view is that Kraft is an egotistical meddler who should have been fired yesterday.

Campbell was not available until the end of the season so the wrong number or whatever did not matter.

Who cares about baseball? The whole athletic program hinges on football. My contention is that IF he got this right with Campbell and after 3 years we are a strong program he should keep his job...AND IF NIL is flowing in at a top 15 level. You shouldn't fire him now over a baseball hire.

I don't know about the moles from the BGJ era. Did he know they were moles? Maybe or not but he should have sniffed that out so fair point.

I guess they could have fired him in January or something like that after Campbell was hired but that seems like flimsy logic. Let's blame him for all the poaching and then not let his biggest hire of his PSU tenure play out under his watch while disrupting Campbell by changing his boss who would have not hired him nor have that much loyalty to him within 1 month of his arrival. Seems unnecessary but I guess you could say we were going to get a new AD who is the king rainmaker and our NIL was going to skyrocket.
No Kraft should be fired and replaced with a PROFESSIONAL. Getting the wrong number sure as hell matters because it is another example of his incompetence. His apologists claim that it was “well known” that Campbell would not entertain new job offers until after the season. If that’s the case, then why did Kraft try to contact him before the end of the season and how could he not get the correct number? Any competent AD knows how to get in contact with a candidate’s agent.

Kraft didn't hire a search firm. He wanted the new hire to pledge fealty to him.

No doubt but he could have conducted his own search and made his own list during the season. The fact that the President had to intervene to help as the hiring process dragged out speaks volumes to me.

So status quo for the last 26 years with one or two exceptions. ;)
The next coach will bring "excellence at the highest level and the national championship our fans deserve."
A triumphant Pat Kraft after saving PSU from James Franklin. Boy, this feels so much better!;)

I didn't want James Franklin fired at the time he was last season...however, hearing from people at the stadium after that game and seeing this video, and I totally got it. Things would have continued to get very ugly in front of our home fans and recruits. And in hindsight, I'm really happy that Terry got the opportunity that he got.

When are you going to admit BGJ was a terd, and stop polishing him? The bum is gone thank God.

After that last disastrous loss, he looked like he was going to croak. His expression told it all. He knew it was over, and he looked like a ghost.

If he’s an idiot now, he’ll be an idiot in two years, too. Just like you. Your posts are so full of animal excrement and 4th grade level drivel that you should just pack it up WITH Kraft. 🤡 The fact that you type paragraphs about your feelings for an idiot exposes one and the same when the mirror is presented. Are we going to win 10 games this year? Are we going to win 10 games next year? Is the program getting better week over week or worse? Sit down and shut the duck up. Your opinion means nothing.

Meaningless. As you are and your self conversing and liking nics. BGJ was part of the BoT ploy to minimize Paterno. It flopped like you. Penn State didn't lose its identity with terd James or Campbell, it lost it when the BoT pulled their crap with Corbett, factFreeh and the idiotic/illegal consent decree.

One game away from the championship is competing. It’s far close than going 3-9 or 4-8.
We haven't truly contended since Kerry Collins was here
We reached the semis because of the draw. I don't believe anyone here thought we'd win a title even if we beat ND.

I want to beat USC so bad just to stick it up Marshalls ***. There I said it. And you too Bobby
I never suspected you of harboring such dark fantasies. Besides, I've stated this game is a toss up. USC is a 4 loss team this season. Five if PSU beats them. Enjoy your 2026 "big game." PSU's schedule grows weaker by the week. Washington still a big game? Michigan?
So so recruiting and #21 NIL money bleeds into 2027-28 when PSU returns to a Big 10 schedule. Tell me how a win tonight saves this season? A win is always better than a loss. It will gain seats on the bandwagon on a journey headed to oblivion in 27-28 unless talent acquisition improves. Perhaps you should just man up and admit my concerns were spot on when the BWICAC were admiring the new coach's shoelaces?

PSU fan for 60+ years, not a Pat Kraft apologist nor an Iowa State Football fan.
You may have 60+ years of idol worship but you are no fan of PSU. Your comments indicate you support individuals instead of the program. Are you prepared to support CMC and the teams he produces for the next 12 years? Or is he not worthy of your worship?

2027 isn't crazy
2028 would have been rough with any coach--Saban in his prime would be concerned
2028 might be the greatest home schedule of all time though
