Grimsley @ Varina (VA) 10/2

Last year, this game was pretty close. I was looking at Varina's roster and they only have 36 kids on their squad. Based on that alone, Grimsley will wear them out and pull away, probably win by 14+
I think Grimsley will be more aware of who their opponent is going into it this year too. I could be absolutely wrong about this. Who does Varina have that really jumps out as a gamebreaker? Someone on here always talks about how Grimsley only wins because they always play their best opponents at home, well this one is 202 miles away, and a 4-5 hour activity bus ride.

I also saw where Varina's starting QB #3 was injured against Oscar Smith. I'm not sure if he is still out or how serious it was.

Just to let you know the backup is just as good. Kid is a baller. Grimsley lose by 10. This team is loaded and ranked number 1.

I saw film of this game last year. It was very competitive. The Varina QB really impressed me and they seemed to have alot of size. I hope Grimsley wins.

Varina is the number one ranked team in VA and defending state champs. Last year their only loss was to Grimsley. This should be a very good game surprised there isn't more chatter on this. Grimsley is currently riding a 37 game win streak (Back to back state champs). Big big game in Richmond, VA tonight.

Grimsley very dominant in the win. Made some mistakes but thats football. I picked them to lose by 10 based on film from previous games , that hype train has left the building. Didn't look or play like a #1 state team . Grimsley out played them the entire night . I think when they kicked their band out of the game pissed them off and rightfully so would do the same to any team if that happened to their band. Varina principal shame on you. That was an embarrassing thing to do to those kids . How can you call yourself a principal for kids ? Pitiful and shameful. You should be demoted. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I heard Grimsley's band was kicked out of the game, because they were playing while Varina had the ball..... LOL like sir, don't you know that's common occurrence for football games??? Absolutely comical and amateur behavior from Varina's principal to have Grimsley's band escorted out of the stadium by police.

I see where they are trying to pull out some state ruling on it. But, Varina's band was also playing when Grimsley had the ball in the 1st half... um hello!?!?!?!?

It's a VA HS FB rule, no playing during live action (suppose to stop playing when team breaks the huddle) But if ref isn't enforcing it, no need for schools administrators to step in

Lol if you call trailing most of the game and having to score with less than 2 mins left to force overtime dominant then I question your judgement. 2 VERY good football teams. Varina also did not have their starting QB which is a factor. Varina also had at least 1 td called back. Congrats to the Whirlies they bend but do not break and will likely win the state again in NC. Also if you asked coach Brown if he thought Varina was a #1 team in the state I am sure he would say yes.

Shorty after the pick Varina turned it over on the Grimsley 12 I think. Varina outplayed Grimsley int he firth half and should have been ahead by as much as 14 points. So it was not a dominant win but a good one for Grimsley. From what I saw at the endzone by the scoreboard was this


Varina was the faster team

Grimsley made some great adjustments a after the half
Grimsley beat a very very good Varina team.

Now I know coach Brown I have coached against him and a few of his assistant coaches. They are a top staff and earned a very good win Friday night. Varina will be fine and has a very good chance to repeat in Virginia.

Totally agree! Grimsley is a top tier team and staff. In regards to VA Looking like a 3 team race between Varina, Jefferson Forest and GW Danville in 4a.

Grimsley is always in a coaching advantage against these "much faster" more athletic teams. They just do not lose and know how to win football games, They'll be better the next two years too. The entire offense is soph and juniors might 4 peat to be honest
