Not sure why I’m wasting my time with this garbage thread but good lord. Pope is in year 3 at the best program of all time. Stein is in year 1 coaching a bottom half SEC team. Just use your brain for once.

Oh, he has plenty that should. He would rather lose playing exciting than win otherwise. And other gems.
And what does the OP even mean by “exciting” basketball? Not what you and I would, I think.

I could be wrong, but I don’t look at the OP as a “troll.” I think he’s a younger person that is really more of a high school basketball recruiting and individual basketball personalities fan than putting together rosters to chase championships. So, he became a UK fan under Calipari because Calipari’s primary goal was getting OAD high school recruits who would go highest in the NBA draft (generally, of course, on potential rather than production), not winning championships – so much so that he would knowingly sacrifice UK’s chances of winning titles in order to accomplish his goal of building a legacy of having the most OAD freshmen picked highest in the draft.

The OP simply gets the most excitement from recruiting rankings and projected draft positions of high school players. Which is his prerogative, but it’s also why he mis-interprets Calipari as having a “fun playing style” when that is far from the case (when was the last time a UK fan thought Calipari had a fun, exciting offensive system or approach?) and views beating Arkansas as the biggest accomplishment for a UK basketball team (???).

I used to think exactly what you think about him, but as you pay attention to his posts, it is just trolling. He had a different Anon# account last season. Trust me, he knows what he is doing.

21 but yeah i mean spending time w my grandpa whos been a kentucky fan all his life and watching kat booker and guys like that during holiday times was always a tradition for me
Shocked you didn’t mention the 2012 NC team. So your fond memories revolved around all the NBA talent that Cal had and the numerous disappointing post season results. Should I remind you of his last few seasons when he got fat and lazy?

Two things bud

1. my assumption growing up was talent was always going to come bc its uk
2. I loved it bc of the playstyle, athletic freaks running up and down the floor, breaking ankles, big jams

Yes i understand cal underperformed with the talent he had in the last couple years, but popes "overperform" isn't even good enough

Also not saying this team is bad, im looking forward to this year. But man its so easy to say what if

what if wilkerson chose us last year and we land Wilson instead if forcing mo dioubate in a role he's not used to

or if we land lendebirg or Lanier

that's my only issue

Pope hasn't overperformed at all. Hes just been average.

Cal was great early on, good n the middle and sucked at the end.

Okay i agree but there's a difference

im not arguing cal was elite at the end of his tenure, im just saying i still enjoyed his time here in ways i just can't with pope

some fans like you only care about wins and that's great and im not talking you how to fan, but i like enjoying other things as well such as recruiting and on court style
