If you follow enough CFB to understand all the references and jokes, they’re more hit than miss imo.
Three B1G coaches on this list- Riley and Fickel and Locksley.

On Fickell-interesting twist:

"Fickell’s buyout would be among the largest any Big Ten school has ever paid and things didn’t exactly work out the last time new athletic director Shawn Eichorst had to fire a football coach (axing Bo Pelini at Nebraska and replacing him with Mike Riley). Ironically though, this might be the perfect time for Wisconsin to actually change head coaches given the number of candidates (Wisconsin native Tim Polasek at North Dakota State, Wake Forest’s Jake Dickert, Badgers alum Eck, among others) who would be perfect fits for the job."

This raises a question. Polasek is at ND State. His predecessor Matt Entz is at Fresno. His predecssor was Klieman at K-State. Is North Dakota State a cradle of future P5 coaches?

When I thought about it this morning I realized that I am disappointed as a Terrapin fan that the Maryland AD didn't pull the trigger. I'm not a pitchfork kind of guy about sports, but the pitchforks are definitely out in great numbers in Terpland...

Everyone seems to think Eck to Wisconsin is a done deal if they fire Fickell, which I don't actually think will happen (but who knows?). Dickert is one of the top guys Rutgers ought to be all in on.

Dickert is someone you might have gotten when he was at WSU. Now that he’s been showing good work at WF I think bigger jobs might look at him if he continues.

The name that might be gettable if we ever need an OC and Dickert is still at WF is their OC Rob Ezell. One time walk on Alabama QB and Saban impersonator. I like some of the things I’ve seen out of their offense and he’s done a good job reuniting with Gio Lopez who was his qb at South Alabama. It just shows how bad the offensive coaching staff at UNC was last year.

One other thing about Dickert is that even though he’s a defensive coach he’s done a pretty good job of identifying good OC/QB combos that have been productive for his team.

At WSU: Eric Morris/Cam Ward, Ben Arbuckle/John Mateer

At WF: Rob Ezell/Robby Ashford and Gio Lopez

It's certainly a cradle of winning coaches.

I think Rutgers would absolutely be in play for him. Yes, you won't be the only school taking a good look at him, but Wake is not a good job even in the ACC, and I have to think he'd be very intrigued by Rutgers, given the talent footprint it occupies and the league it plays in.

He taken over tough jobs like WSU and then WF because WSU was stranded after the dismantling of the PAC.

I think the next job for him will likely be mid tier P4 or higher.

Ezell is interesting to me though and potentially gettable if he’s still at WF. Kelly once tapped Elko out of WF to be ND DC, maybe go back to that well lol…wild speculation of course.

Also mentioned this in the games thread, that Colorado if they ever got rid of Deion (owed 25-30M) could be a potential spot for Eck. The new AD at Colorado hired Eck at NM.

Nebraska is looking better this year with Colandrea and year 2 under Holgorsen.

They also have a new DC Rob Aurich who came from SDSU where he did a good job and he was plucked from Jason Eck’s Idaho staff originally. NM has a top 20ish defense so far this year. I like that Eck is able to identify some capable coaches it seems.

Rhule may have finally landed on some solid coordinators. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes for them.
Hate to do this to you, and I hate to do this because the jinx rules, but the double jinx?

Matt Rhule says to Locksley -hold my 4-0 beer, down 16-7 with 2:17 to the half.
