So stupid . Raymond had 240 yards vs them last year. Guy was right, beat them last two years.

very true, Greg should be gone already and in typical Rutgers fashion, we may shyyt the bed
Saw on X, many current and former players profusely congratulating Greg on his 100th. The two prominent ones were KJ Duff and Antwan Raymond. Raymond was emphatic that he owed everything to GS.
Also saw some past greats, which carries less weight.
That will play into when/how the decision is made, but hopefully there will not be a long delay.
If we get annihilated by Indiana, makes it that much easier.
If the game is close, IDK.
Should Rutgers shock the world, doubtful.
Just my guesses.

won't play into anything, one would expect former players (for the most part) to suck up to their coach.

took him longer than anyone to get to 100. pathetic

THIS is why action has to be taken asap:

If the Terrapins had fired Locksley last year, after a second straight 4–8 campaign, they might have been able to get into the mix to hire the guy from James Madison who emasculated Maryland on Saturday, Bob Chesney. Instead, Chesney is a phenom at UCLA and Maryland is trying to decide when (not if) it will send Locksley out the door. Losing 54–3, being outrushed 266–34 and committing five turnovers is no way to salvage any shred of job security. The Oct. 17 game between Schiano and Locksley looms as a potential matchup of dead men walking.

I do believe Locksley is the worst coach in the B1G
I'm going to say that I was probably the last believer in Coach Locksley, possibly because I think he's such a good person. I thought the underclassmen took their lumps last year with all the last-minute losses and he made a wise move to spend his NIL retaining them. But it just didn't work out, and I guess it was never going to work out. I was wrong on this one (and on many things, ha ha)...

Can't read the whole article, but does not seem to be a firing?

I'm not a subscriber and can't read it either, but I'm told that the article didn't divulge much about what was discussed.

For all I know factually, it could have been a "hang in there!" meeting.

However, this new AD is turning out to be rather savvy and not timid. The fan base was already boiling over after last season, and it's now volcanic...

Coach Locksley is tied for fifth all-time in wins at Maryland with Bobby Ross, who many feel was on a trajectory to win a NCAA title in the eighties until the Bias trouble rocked the athletic department and the entire university (they entered one season ranked #1 in some sports magazine; Ross did go on to win a NCAA title a few years later at Georgia Tech, and later took the Chargers to the Super Bowl). So that's something he can tell his grandchildren!

Is your point Locksley is good because he’s 5th all time? He has an overall losing record is is something like 17–43 in the B1G so similar to GS

No, I was trying to be funny.

He (39-51) is tied with a man who went 39-19, won multiple conference titles, and finished several seasons with nice rankings. I forgot that you guys probably don't know and probably couldn't care less who Bobby Ross is, and so probably wouldn't get the joke.

I won't be quitting my day job...

Exactly. I don't know why people can't understand this TBH. Unless we have BK locked-and-loaded to sign on the dotted line, come 11/29, waiting around would be extremely shortsighted IMHO
No candidates are taking jobs midseason before other potential opportunities are known.

I chuckled audibly...
Well, Mike Locksley lives to coach another game, and at his presser, he will appear as Samuel Clemens with the opening statement, "Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated."

Matt Rhule propping him up:

"I don't believe last week carries over to this week." Matt Rhule said he respects the way Mike Locksley continued to fight in UCLA's 54-3 rout of Maryland. The lopsided loss didn't impact the respect they have for the Terps. "We all know who they are."

Rutgers and Maryland are perfect soulmates for entering the B1G at the same time, and now they are perfect B1G cellarmates.

This applies to Rutgers, too. I have to think the job would've been very appealing to Chesney, who was there, available, and a near-perfect fit. Think of all the places that would not have brought Schiano back after 2025. I have no idea what was in Zinn's mind, but she had to at least think about pulling the trigger, even if she would've had to sell it to the higher-ups. And I really feel bad for her if she wanted to do it last November, wasn't allowed, and had to watch the UMassacre.

Maybe somebody should immediately go ahead and hire the current James Madison coach. They seem pretty good at picking coaches...

Billy Napier. Killed it as Louisiana (not LSU). Got killed at Florida for 4 years:

Napier's three-plus seasons at Florida saw the program revamp its recruiting and organizational structure, but off-field improvements did not translate into enough wins; his record of 22–23 was the worst winning percentage by a non-interim Florida head coach since Raymond Wolf, who coached in the late 1940s

Nebraska is looking better this year with Colandrea and year 2 under Holgorsen.

They also have a new DC Rob Aurich who came from SDSU where he did a good job and he was plucked from Jason Eck’s Idaho staff originally. NM has a top 20ish defense so far this year. I like that Eck is able to identify some capable coaches it seems.

Rhule may have finally landed on some solid coordinators. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes for them.

We had a fan here who was a big Mike Houston fan, he didn’t do so hot at ECU. Everett Withers is another that wasn’t so great. No way to know for sure who can make the leap up or back up in Napier’s case.

They seem to do a good job picking coaches for themselves but not necessarily for the P4.

Mike Houston-we have a problem in East Carolina? Holy smokes, what a crash and burn.
Michael Glenn Houston (born November 14, 1971) is an American football coach who is currently a volunteer defensive assistant at Clemson University.

What's interesting is he brought his coordinators with him to East Carolina from JMU. 🤷‍♂️
