I’d have GOT and Mad Men at the top, with Breaking Bad, Atlanta, True Detective S1, Watchmen, Deadwood, Community (not even on the list?!), Justified, and maybe Schitt’s Creek or Arrested Development (toss up) to round out the top ten.

Agree with got with breaking bad. Now I have never seen mad men. Guess I should? Does it progress and build over time with the characters over the years or is it random episodes. That is why I liked got and breaking bad.

There’s progress in Mad Men characters over the years, yes. I liked it okay.

The main takeaway I have from this list is that I really didn't watch a lot of TV. I've hardly seen any of these shows. Or maybe my tastes are just far too pedestrian/bad, as I admit to liking reality TV game show types of series when I have the time to relax and watch some TV.

Personally, I'd put True Detective Season 1 as #1.
Dexter is on the list, but at 88, and I'd probably have it top 10.
Stranger Things holds a special place with me, since it's one show our entire family watched together throughout its entire run.
Mad Men was very good, but I didn't feel it was an all-timer.
Same with Breaking Bad. I didn't even finish it - I got bored after 2 or 3 seasons.
GoT was great - a top 10 contender.
Peaky Blinders was quite entertaining, but I wouldn't call it "great."
Severance is absolute trash.

Community was maybe the last network comedy before the PC police shut everything down (good news is streaming shows like Tires and HBO’s Righteous Gemstones don’t give a sh*t about PC) - had an amazing cast and could dip into meta comedy without effort. That Allison Brie was also on Mad Men really gives this scene some extra juice. And they did stuff like this all the time. Crime it’s not on this list.

That was my thought too. but The Shield was very very good, and we love Ted Lasso. But no credit to shows that dominate TV like NCIS or formerly Blue Bloods. I also think down the road that the new Matlock will be recognized. Kathy Bates is amazing.

The only weak part is one of the central themes of season 5 (last season). Was a little silly, but it ended well - unlike GoT which never regained its stride.

Season 4 of the Wire is one of the best, but most devastating, seasons of TV you will ever watch.

My personal ranking of the seasons: 4,3,2,1,5 - the first 4 are nip and tuck.

I WANT to watch the Americans, but can’t get rolling on it. Have started and stopped 3 times. It has everything I should like - if that makes sense (set in time period I grew up in, centered around the US-USSR rivalry which governed everything in global politics then, great cast, etc). Just can’t get fully invested

I agree on season 4 of The Wire. Having watched the entire series several times, I now think Season 2 is the most underrated

The Robert’s Rules of Order scene, “You’re taking notes on a ******* criminal conspiracy?” Deangelo thinking that Wee Bey invited him over to his apartment so as to kill him only to find out Bey wants him to feed his fish while he’s gone. The F scene with Bunk and Jimmy. “Where’s Wallace, String? Where’s Wallace?” Omar whistling A Huntin’ We Will Go. Every scene with Slim Charles, “That was for Joe.” Every scene with Bodie. Snoop buying the nail gun at Home Depot, good grief. Snoop, knowing she was going to die, asking “How do I look?”

IMHO The Wire is Homicide Life on the Streets uncensored and darker. Schitts Creek is so unfunny. It tried to be cute, but was so stupid and contrived that I forgot to laugh.

I didn’t like Bodie most of my first watch and then he became one of my favorite characters - especially the fantastic scene with him and McNulty at the cemetery. Here’s a great scene - first his hilarious anger at being stuck on an off-brand corner and then his back and forth with Cutty. Brilliant stuff by both of them

every episode of each season is just so rich... and season 2 was my least favorite but upon rewatch it is underrated. And then there is this scene...
