One issue I have with the defense is we’ve played 4 games and gotten only 2 turnovers. Both absolute gifts from the South Carolina QB. On the other hand, we’ve only turned the ball over 3 times ourselves.

I was afraid that the short field at the end of the game was going to bite us too. I love Pulliam, but that was a hell of a time to yank a 30 yarder off the side of his foot.

As far as the defense goes, I there's plenty to gripe about, but I feel like they're doing a pretty good job with what they have to work with. After watching the last two weeks, the big disadvantage that we have is as clear as day, and that is that we flat out do not have an athletic pass rusher on the edge like a lot of these teams. We've got to fix that this offseason. That said, our run defense has been playing lights out, our tacking is great, and every team in the country wishes that they had a corner like Jones.

I don't have high expectations against teams like Bama, but I think we have the ability to win a big game this year. It's just going to take a MUCH cleaner game than we've seen the last two weeks. Also, I'm trying not to dwell on it, but that end of the 1st half cluster just cannot happen. Ever

Missouri’s points all came when they got a short field.

ETA: they might have had one drive. Point stands.
Arnette is a good DC. We have some players on D, but I don't think many DC's could do as well with our limitations on the DL.

Hopefully Arnette likes working with Lebby. It seems like Arnett genuinely liked Starkville and was not just spouting coach speak,

The only negatives about the D at all were the dropped INT’s, dead-ball penalties (facemask after the long pass to Lee), and Arnett’s patented 3rd down blitz that gets nowhere close, leading to a long TD in the 4th.

Otherwise, they played very well again, and fundamentally sound.
I was right there on that long pass facemask. Looked like his hand just caught it as he’s bringing it over to make the play. Those are unfortunate, but they happen sometimes. I didn’t really think it was a dumb grab or anything.

I totally agree! Arnett has done a great job with what we have on defense. We are playing hard every single down and that comes from who Arnett is all about.
I hope we get Issac Smith back soon!

I watched the highlights from when MSU and Leach took Will Rogers into Texas A&M and beat them. Arnett's defense back then was slower overall, and noticeably. They were probably harder tackling and a real heady group. Jett Jefferson, Emerson, JT Purvis, Tyrus Wheat just to name a few. Arnett does a great job at maximizing talent and I have to keep in mind, he is still teaching right now. We will get better (barring injury). Like I said, we have speed at LB and in the secondary. I think we have enough at DT to be alright. We are 1 DE away from making an even bigger impact.

And Simmons is a good football player. He makes some mistakes but he is good and they will win some games this year because of him. Hes hard to completely stop
