Cheeto is really digging himself a hole with this press credentials fiasco.

We all knew how this was gonna go in court. Cheeto was gonna lose. He objected, in very public fashion, to the coverage he was getting from CNN, MSNow, and Politico, so he pulled their White House press credentials. They promptly sued and won, District Judge Kelly (whom Trump appointed) ordering Trump to restore their WH press credentials. The Judge's order came out around 1:00 A.M. this morning (9/24). Apparently, representatives of all three companies were present at 12:30 or so for Trump's welcome of Chinese President Xi.

But at or around 7:30 P.M., a MSNow reporter (and perhaps reporters from CNN and Politico as well) were denied admittance to the dinner in Xi's honor. The rest of the White House Press Corps was admitted. CNN, MSNow and Politico went back to court, and Judge Kelly is not happy about having his order be ignored.

This particular "constitutional crisis" (as some are calling it) will not end favorably for The Donald. Even Tricky Dick Nixon knew that you can't ignore a court order. Expect contempt proceedings to be commenced following Judge Kelly's appointment of a special prosecutor (because the DoJ will not prosecute a contempt citation against one of Trump's other minions). If I'm Susie Wiles, I'm concerned about the possibility of being stuck in the hoosegow for up to six (6) months. And as for Cheeto himself, ignoring a court order will not sit well with GOP legislators or a decent swath of the electorate, including Republicans.

yea, I don't know why Trump picks battles where he has such a great chance of losing. Don't like CNN/MSNOW, just don't call on them..put them in the back of the room.

On the dinner, I don't know the judges decision..did it include press conferences and state dinners? I don't know. But I guess it's possible that if state dinners were excluded from the decision there wasn't a violation. Still, why fight that battle? Just makes you look vindictive

EDIT: according to reports this morning, since TRO was issued late at night, the computers weren't set up to allow access until the morning...according to WH, nothing nefarious here

Yeah bear I have to side with TigerGrowls here. Trump supporters love the disdain for freedom of speech and rule of law. They enjoy seeing dictator wannabe Trump destroy American institutions.

Anti-American terrorists like TigerGrowls love seeing someone go against democracy and the law. They get rock hard to see Trump defy the law. They love criminals and they love corruption

It's troubling that, after all this time, you have no idea who Trump is, or what he's been about ... this entire time. His entire political existence is self-serving and vindictive. He needed cashflow, so, with a failing TV show, he decided a political campaign was the best way to self his brand of self. His brand of self had been his thing for some time before that, having failed as a developer, he decided to cultivate branding his name on things. That's how he stayed mostly afloat for years.

He quickly realized that internet trolling was a thing ... so he took it "live." That was him from the start ... brand himself as a vindictive troll, and use that backing to enrich himself. He has not wavered from this in all this time. He has not hidden it at all. But you have all chosen to either embrace it, as you laugh at him trolling on (what you think is) your behalf, or overlook it, because you think it's fine to have a criminal troll leading you, as long as he backs a policy position you agree with.

No. Let them back in yesterday afternoon and did not let them in last night. 100% intentional.

• CNN reporters denied access: The White House denied two CNN journalists Thursday evening from covering Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s arrival at the White House for a state dinner, after trying to tell the network which type of journalists could cover the event. MS NOW journalists were also denied access.

• Passes reinstated: Earlier in the day, CNN along with MS NOW and Politico were allowed back into the White House after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to temporarily reinstate press badges for the news outlets.

• Judge’s order: The move came after the three outlets told federal Judge Timothy Kelly that their journalists were still denied entry in the morning despite his ruling. Overnight, Kelly ordered the Trump administration to temporarily reinstate their access after the outlets were banned from the premises last week by President Donald Trump.

no matter, dumb battle to fight....even new parents know you can't fight everything with the toddler..have to pick the fights most important. Even the most ardent trump supporter had to know that this was a loser for trump.

What a horrible matter that these upstanding purveyors of truth and fair minded reporting were denied press credentials. How will the country survive without the accurate information that they provide. Very important issue to address.

LOL... You are whistling in the dark here. Trump supporters couldn't care less about the law or the constitution. Can you IMAGINE what these very same folks would be saying if Biden had done this to Newsmax and Foxnews? They'd have the torches and pitchforks out... and they'd be right to do so. But if it's DONALD TUMP? Nothing, crickets. That's just the way it is and the reason that I stopped calling them Republicans and started calling them Trumpians long ago.

You dummy. Your bar membership should be revoked.

It should not be hard even for non-attorneys to understand that the president works for the American people, not himself, and that he should be utterly unable to ban reporters from White House meeting, dinners, or events because he does not like their reportage. That is quite clearly what has been happening here, which explains why Cheeto gets routinely and promptly slapped down each time this kind of thing ends up in front of a court. I'm sorry - for you - that you seem incapable of understanding that.

Space on Air Force One may be limited, so my guess is that not everyone in the WH Press Corps can be allocated a seat. But there has obviously been some historical method of allocation that has worked for all prior presidents and press corps. You think reporters from Faux News were denied access to White House grounds or Air Force One when either Obama or Biden was president?! Leave it to Cheeto Hitler to have a snit and make it necessary for the Press Corps to seek judicial intervention.

Bear, do you ever get tired of whining?

Fac, do you ever get tired of supporting fascism, and the destruction of our Constitution and the rule of law, while an uber-narcissist steals money from the American populace (including you) in order to enrich himself?

Didn't think so.

I was just in DC ... loved seeing our fascist leader's posters draped all over buildings ... you know, as if he was the dictator of a third world nation. It's like visiting an alternate universe.

Honestly, you and they are probably legally correct. My point is that these news organizations are such dunces and ideologues that they don't serve much of a function for the country. 30 or 40 years ago legacy news organizations served a real purpose in that people needed them for news. Now the news is everywhere on the internet and we don't need biased uninformed people to fly on presidential airplanes. A minor matter to me either way.

Look, you are welcome to your viewpoint that reporters from MSNow, CNN, and Politico have a skewed political viewpoint. (I'd be shocked to hear otherwise from a member of the MAGA faithful.) I don't take issue with your right to that viewpoint, or to your expressing it. I DO, however, take issue with Trump expressing that viewpoint by means of excluding them from White House press conferences, meetings, and social events. I will give you credit for at least acknowledging that doing so is legally indefensible. They tried with that old MAGA chestnut about "national security" requiring that banning, which was laughable on its face.

In reality, they don't have to ban anybody, just don't call on them or answer their questions. There are plenty of reporters in the press conferences who never get called on

Yep, Obama administration once attempted to exclude Fox News from a pooled interview in October 2009, but reversed the decision within hours after other major networks staged a boycott. No courts needed. Bad idea then, bad idea now.
