This will be the premier game of week 5. I expect us to be 4-0 and ranked around #15 vs top #10 Bama. Easy choice for gameday to be in Starkville, IF we are 4-0. MSU should already be preparing for the pregame activities and expecting it. I can see Pat now leading the "we gonna beat the hell out of you" chant. Lets Go!

This board is so bi-polar. Two weeks ago most everyone was predicting 4 or fewer wins and Lebby to be fired by Nov. 1. Now we win two games and all of a sudden we're hosting College Gameday. I'm getting whiplash from all the sudden changes.
Folks acting like the prediction thread isn’t readily available. We already have 66% of our wins according to quite a few of them.

With that said I am not sure MSU should be in the top 25 yet. This week will determine that.
I don't understand the fascination with wanting to be ranked, anyway. In every top 25 ranking ever published, you can single out a team or two who probably doesn't deserve their ranking. We have perception problems due to recent history but if we keep winning ballgames the rankings will take care of themselves.

I personally would like to see all rankings done away with until the CFP rankings start coming out at Halloween. And AP/Coaches poll rankings should not factor into the CFP poll formula.

The post you replied to was moved to the post I thought I was responding to about the Oregon still being ranked and us not in the rankings

Bama weekend could be a big weekend for Starkville. Think we have Hardy in town that night.

Should be slammed. A lot of private events happening.

Possible big games to compete with. A 4-0 State vs. 4-0 Bama would be considered.

Miami at Clemson (Eh, Clemson likely 3-1 but unranked)
Notre Dame at North Carolina (two unbeaten teams + Bellichek)
Washington at USC (Huskies look suspect, but could be 4-0 headed to USC)
Auburn at Tennessee (if Auburn beats Florida, two ranked 4-0 teams)
Texas Tech at Colorado (likely 2 4-0 ranked teams +Deion)
Ohio State at Iowa (both currently ranked)

MSU Football reads like an investment disclaimer: Past performance is not indicative of future results.

IF those are the options and IF we're undefeated at the time (huge IF), our game would be the more attractive option than all of these, especially when you factor in the KT hype.

Ya, it won't even be a debate if we are both 4-0. The only decent option will be OSU vs Iowa and the Fox BIG Noon show will be there. ESPN will be in Starkville.

As one that has to live with the chaos that Gameday brings with it to town, I would prefer them not be here for purely selfish reasons. Campus and town in general becomes a wreck starting on Wednesday afternoon and continues until they pull the 18 wheelers out and go to their next stop. Regular traffic patterns become more chaotic than normal, streets are blocked, traffic is awful. So for those of you that like to sit at home and watch it congrats. To those of us that have to live with it, I hope we and Bama are undefeated but they choose somewhere else to go that week

As a resident in Starkville, I welcome the chaos. It lifts the tide of the town as a whole. Do you not remember the economic impact the 2014 season has had on our town? You do not get success and growth without inconvenience and challenges.

We are all so beat down from years of mediocrity that we seemingly are all noticing that we are good all of a sudden. I can’t remember the last time we have whipped someone like we did last weekend. Mullen wouldn’t have won that game and it would have been his fault for not taking the points or something stupid like that. We may actually be good.

We don't need to get ahead of ourselves here. Both teams could be 2-2 by then.

But if we're somehow both 4-0, could game time be changed to fit a Game Day schedule?

It was quite easy, you should be able to read the original post and figure that out but since you haven't/didn't..........

-For starters, I openly admitted in the first line that it was for PURELY SELFISH REASONS, I'm not trying to hide that fact, therefore its about me. Understand?
-Secondly, I noted that out of town fans can sit comfortably in their homes and not have to experience ANY of it so it's obviously not about them. Those not here can just enjoy the game from their homes while thinking how cool it is that Gameday is in Starkville while those of us living here can starting as early as Wednesday afternoon try and make our way through already torn up blocks of downtown and Highway 182 (thanks Lynn Spruill) or sit at every red light on Highway 12 East and West bound in bumper to bumper traffic while creeping towards work, home, or a place to go get a piece of meat for the grill and a 6 pack, or whatever else we require in our normal lives. Then finally on Saturday morning we'll all venture out early to again sit in traffic while possibly upwards of 60,000+ fans (hopefully not all of them AL fans) also converge on campus to the same square block known as DWS for an early game where multiple streets not normally shut down on campus will be closed and temporarily re-directed who knows where so as to accommodate the 18 wheelers and ancillary vehicles lining the streets that brought in all the infrastructure to put on Gameday. I look forward to the game, just not all the crap that comes w/ Gameday. I'll be there as usual pulling for the Dawgs though, hope you will too..............

Yep. Nothing to figure out. You came right out said you're selfish. As did I.
And I'll be there for all home games this year, just as I have been for many years, including our only Gameday appearance to date.
Gameday isn't just for the people on the couch. It's also for the students and fans that'll show up early for the game. It benefits the football program, unversity and community as a whole.

Will they still come if we're 2-2?
If State is 2-2 going into Bama, State will be 2-6 four games later and will be back to canceling Lebby.

if THIS State team with THIS QB cannot beat at least one of USC or Missouri, they ain’t beating Bama, LSU, Oklahoma or Texas either. And will probably struggle with Candy and Barners!

Sooo….. I expect the Dogs to be 3-1 at worst when the host Bama.

I have a feeling we can beat S Carolina.
That team and environment even though a day game will be different than what we saw at Minnesota.
I feel pretty confident today that we can and should beat Missouri at home, at night, especially if we pull of the upset Saturday in Columbia.
IF those two things happen, Gameday will be in town and it will be the most electrifying atmosphere DWS has seen in years, even for an 11 AM game but damn what could be if it was in the 6 o’clock time slot.
