you do realiz using AI you can change things to look correct, since the big ten waited several hours before releasing their footage the fix was in since western did complain and cause a uproar the got a really nice bonus check. Then they showed the altered footage. Remember the big ten said nbcs clock was off not the stadium so if there was actual one sec left the stadium clock would be shown that. Remember how Fred and the boys got screwed playing iin Ann Arbor 25 or so free throws to 3 advantage to Michigan.
I am not saying it wasn’t a screw job . OP claimed there was 1second on the clock when the WM kid touched the ball. There is absolutely no public replay anywhere that shows that . I told him the BIGs explanation. That what I was replying to that he was full of **** .

It’s going to interesting if there is an official big Ten response. Now if Western Michigan doesn’t send anything in there obviously won’t be a response. And I know nothing will be done regardless but it would be nice to force the BIG to at least admit it was handled incorrectly.
WM just wants the game check.

Ya there are basically 3 clocks in play hey the stadium clock. The Broadcast clock and the review center clock. NBC has already confirmed their Broadcast cast clock was in sync with the stadium clock. Apparently the review clock was not in even though the Rules analyst doesn’t understand how it’s not? My question is why isn’t WM or the MAC forcing the BIG to provide the still picture of the okay in question to prove to the world there was 1 second on the clock when the ball was touched by the WM defender.
Even with the internet there can be a second delay in electronic communication. I ran in to a deal with an online livestock sale site where there was a lag in my click versus their asking price. Not a big deal. 250 bucks but it pissed me off. I still think this was way too coincidental.

ngl, seems they cheated...but just another case of college football being a chaotic mess where nobody seems to follow rules. Two different clocks...stadium, and telecast...not synced. How the stadium review team clock isn't the same one as the telecast...I can't figure out. No reason really to cheat for michigan...it didn't win them the game, nor would this game have knocked them out of the playoffs.

If this was Nebraska, Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern or Michigan State, anyone here think the officiating crew bends over and gives them an extra :01?

Big Ten has always looked out for its darlings. What a corrupt, despicable cesspool of a conference.
They used to sell t-shirts in Iowa City b4 Iowa games vs Michigan that said…”Ann Arbor is a wh*re”. 😳

They don't need AI...the footage just seems they overlaid the wrong clock on top of #18 touching the ball. But...a stadium operator cannot be the final say for official time as they are biased. There has to be another source, which would be the official replay team run by the big 10. Whether you trust this source or not they had a different time than the official time. Which means broadcasts should be using that time and not the stadium time. I just don't think the squeeze is really worth the juice in this case.

The call was very controversial but all that it did was give Michigan a miniscule chance of winning...the fact WM **** the bed is the problem. And like NU in 2009...you need to score more than 12 to have a big upset. And honestly, the game doesn't matter. If Michigan wins out, they make the playoffs...like ND did a couple of years ago. Just another reason to get rid of these stupid pay2win scrimmages.
If Michigan continues to play like they did last night…they will lose 3 or 4 games this year.

To this day, I don't think Nebraska got screwed in that. Film and clocks definitely show 1 second on the clock when the ball was touched.
The issue was whether, in 2009, the refs had the right to look at that play based on the rules. Remember, only “egregious” errors could be reversed at the time.

Same thing could be said about Notre Dame two years ago. They made the playoffs. I just don't see the motive of cheating to get Michigan a play which has less than a 10% chance of success. Coincidence..sure. And even faking it, or lying about it. To get Michigan a meaningless win? There just isn't logical motive.

To add insult to injury, Michigan ran a blatant (albeit well designed) pick play on the last gift play.

Watch Michigan #18. He cut in front of the receiver that made the catch. By design.

Collides with multiple W Michigan defenders, taking them out of the play, as designed. Never made a play on the ball, never even got his hands above his waist. He was the designed pick, and it worked.

Except that it's illegal. For this exact reason.
You aren't getting an offensive pass interference call against the home team, during the last drive, in front of 110k people cheering for the home team. It is a rare call anyway, and it happens all the time earlier in the game. If you want to beat a top team, at their home stadium...you need to score a td at the end not go up by 5...four field goals should never get it done.

I'd argue that what you need to win in any football game is more points when the clock hits zero and the final play is blown dead.

WMU checked all three boxes, the disembodied still photo of a microwave clock in a manufactured "review" video notwithstanding.

And simping for michigan is certainly a choice.

Michigan ( The school and basically the state, for different reasons ) is a cesspool. It seems to breed corruption. Stank follows it 24-7. The Spy Gate thing, The coach ( Moore ) who was laying the wood to a staffer, the Robert Anderson abuse case. No program is Lilly white, but this program seems to draw a lot of flies. When you add it all up, it is almost as bad ( but not quite in my book ) as Ped State.

The picture of one second on a clock was so bogus it was laughable and the big ten claims to be high standards and supposedly high academics and show a lame picture like that

ANN ARBOR — In one of the most remarkable technological breakthroughs of the past millennium, scientists at the University of Michigan have successfully traveled backwards in time by one second.

Long thought to be outside the realm of possibility, the dream of time travel became a reality on Saturday night as the University of Michigan lab managed to turn the clocks back for one second.

"Wait, where did that second come from? No, that's impossible," said passersby, noting the time change in a very large, illuminated clock. "The only way is if there is some sort of rupture in the space-time continuum. It's the only explanation."

At publishing time, the scientists had announced that weirdly, their time machine only works so far when the University of Michigan is losing.

How is the b1g review centers clock not synched with the game clock. NBC confirmed their clock was synched with the game clock. Why didn't the b1g review center correct the clock earlier in the game if they weren't correct. Many times officials tell clock operator to reset the clock. I would assume that automatically resets at the review center. Maybe the b1g needs to admit they made a mistake
They synced the clocks right before the first hail mary attempt.

go to 14:40
I hate Michigan. It was a good call. #18 of WM stepped on the out of bounds line before he jumped to touch the ball. When he touched the ball the play was dead. He touched it with 1 second remaining, long before the ball hit the ground.

Just seems like a waste of a cheat...they aren't going to get away with that again.
With gambling involved sure they will. Plus this was their brand team. This isn't the first time the Big ****** another team for them or Ohio St. **** 2 years ago they called the gophers for offsides on an onside they recovered against them.

Correct. Same thing here. BUT, shouldn't the game clock be the official clock vs some clock in pango pango ( yes I know it's Chicago...which is known for it's honesty and purity). The review should have been using the TV view/clock or atleast made darn sure that their clock was synched on the umpteen times the clock stops during a game. AMPLE opportunity for them to buzz and tell clock operator to add a second because we're not right or make the adjustment/resynch on their end. That would seem to be standard checklist 101 for replay booth. MAKE SURE CLOCK IS RIGHT...

If I followed this story correctly, the issue was that the replay that viewers saw during the broadcast, and which was circulated on social media millions of times, could not be relied upon as accurate. The statement from the B1G was almost nonsensical, and the comment during halftime of the UW-WSU game by NBC was equally unhelpful.

I finally read an article last night that tried to explain what happened - which was that the B1G always knew there could be 'discrepancies' between their replay and what was shown on television. Maybe this was the first time that discrepancy actually impacted a result. But the B1G evidently did not want to come right out and say you can't trust the clock you see on television because it would make NBC look bad (and NBC pays a boatload of cash to the B1G). And NBC only wanted to go as far as saying they are not the official timekeepers. So two vague statements from the B1G and NBC just made the entire thing look suspect, even it there were legitimately :01 left on the clock.

NBC broadcast clock was synced with the game clock in Michigan stadium. The rules analysts said so . He said he just assumed the review center clock would also be. The thing that makes no sense is when they have a review during the game and sometimes the official will say clock operator reset the clock to 8:13 . At that point how can all clocks not be in sync . It comes down to this they gave Michigan a mulligan and they got a hole in one .

Yep something is not adding up . If the review center clock is not in sync with stadium clock as many times as it starts and stops during a game by the end of the game you would think there would be more than 1second difference ?
