Disagree. Their players aren’t better but were well prepared with schemes to exploit everything RU did.

Schiano doesn’t have a playbook or ability to adjust. No passes to RB, TE, no QB runs. HS offenses are more complex.

Yes. UMass was very good. Obviously we got their A game, but will be very interesting to see how they finish up. They are grossly underrated this year

This is two years in a row where RU's defense just sits back and reacts (way too late). They don't have the athletes to do that. UMass D looked like Ru's old D. I think we know why.

Coordinators call plays but the playbook is what the HCs allow. The limited playbook isn’t Kirk’s doing.

People have short memories. Rutgers lost to MAC team Buffalo in 2018 by score 42-13. It was 35-6 Buffalo at halftime. Buffalo outgained RU 220-40 yards in the first half. Much worse than this game. The difference is that one was hidden on a week 2 saturday and this one was in front of literally the national CFB audience.

2017 against Eastern Michigan as well. EMU 16 - RU 13.

That game had a trivia note about it at the time, maybe it was EMU's first ever win against a B1G opponent in its history or something.

Ash struggled against the MAC.

Umass actually made some plays, in addition to opportunities given. It was by no means all give aways and blown coverages, they made things happen. If the qb stays healthy it will be interesting to see what they can do.

Rutgers losing is more on Rutgers than UMass. Rutgers came in unprepared, overconfident and with an idiotic game plan running a vanilla offense following their tendencies against a talented defensive coach with an entire off season to prepare. UMass played well in all aspects of the game while Rutgers players missed tackles. Rutgers quarterback also seemed like he had the jitters, but it was probably unnerving that UMass knew what they intended to do on virtually every play because Joe Harasymiak actually did know.
