Citron is who I really wanted the Fever to get in the 2025 draft. Unfortunately she had too good of a senior year and went earlier in the draft. Her skills really pair well with Clark. She’d have been great in Lexi’s spot this season.

Paige had 2 really bad turnovers, but otherwise a good game. Reese seemed to have had a good game too, except she still thinks she should be leading a fast break instead of giving the ball up to any of the myriad guards this team has.

The head coach talked crap about CC a few weeks ago on air during a game. Yet look who played the most minutes today and was game MVP. Plus set more USA and FIBA World Cup records in her first game.

Good grief; check out China's size:

Caitlin Clark had 14 points and 11 assists to help the United States beat China, led by 7-foot-3 Zhang Ziyu, 94-61 in its women's basketball World Cup opener Friday.

Rhyne Howard scored 14 points and Jackie Young added 12 for the Americans, who have now won 31 consecutive World Cup games dating back to a loss in the 2006 semifinals.

China paired Zhang with 6-10 Han Xu in the third quarter, presenting an even more potent defensive wall against the U.S. China got within 53-37, but no closer as Clark, Bueckers and Reese helped spark a 17-5 run to close the period.

Han Xu isn't just tall she's a giant. She big like Audie Crooks with less fat, but Crooks moves and runs much better.

Engelbert finally gone, at the end of the year. What a wonderful world.

Han Xu isn't the 7'3" girl that's Zhang Ziyu and she will be drafted by someone in the W next season. Han Xu is 6'10" or 11 and she's a pretty solid player for the liberty. The 6'8" player they made a big fuss about her passport getting lost is Li Yueru and she plays for the Wings last year with the Sparks. She might have helped their depth, but she's not a difference maker in any way.

Zhang has a lot of work to do though on her conditioning. She shuffles her feet several times before she shoots even a ft from the basket and almost never leaves the floor. Will be interesting at just 19 yrs old if a trainer can get some of that baby fat off of her and improve her conditioning.

Sorry I mixed the names up. I was definitely talking about Zhang.

I missed it. What did Kara Lawson say about Clark?

Lawson did the commentary on the Fever game vs the Liberty that the Liberty won 109-102 in early Aug, and Clark gave up an uncontested rebound and a bad foul late that helped seal the victory for the Liberty, and she was critical of Clarks decision and lack of effort on those plays. In the last couple of weeks Lawson has been very complimentary of Clarks overall play and said she has really stepped up in every phase of the game since the tourney in December down in Puerto Rico. Lawson knows full well what Clark can do , and how much she can raise the level of play for this team. I'd imagine we'll see Gray start, and Clark will be in more minutes and during crunch time.

The head coach didn’t talk **** on CC. She spoke the truth. She made some bad decisions down the stretch of that game. It’s ok to tell the truth. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t think she’s a great player. And as you said she got the most minutes.
