I love “my” Boomers, but I don’t think it’s controversial to state that wide swaths of Boomers and certainly those in positions of power completely and utterly F’d over their kids and grandkids futures in nearly every single way.

the fact that this country is still under Boomer influence and “rule” is ridiculous!

I’m also now convinced that my generation, Gen X, won’t have a President. Skip X right to the Millennials, which …. Is actually the most Gen X thing ever haha.

The young people want the perfect house with all the fancy features. Like I said, the expectations make it seem harder, lower the expectation and it won't be so difficult.

there were opportunities, but you might be surprised at how few took advantage of it. Studies show that somewhere about 50% of boomers have more than $50,000 saved for retirement. that certainly would not appear as if boomer's wealth was handed to them...

I did the analysis one time on college debt. My wife and I maxed out our loans way back when. Our monthly payment was ~12% of our gross for our first job. Looked at current average starting salary and the current average monthly payment. It was ~13%.

I always laugh at the lefts want to eliminate student wage debt. Here the government creates a program to help kids get an education, and it is so wildly successful that the left bitches about it.

I'll get to the politics later. So you're mad because people have continued to work and you're expecting them to quit and give up their job for someone younger? To start with, I'm at a fortune 500 company and we don't have many 70-80 year old's. And the handful that we have, they're doing a job they've been doing for 40 years and they're around because no one wants that job. And this handful of people are not rich, they're working because they need the money. So your thought about rich people in their 70-80's holding on to jobs, that's not true. If there are 70+ rich people holding on to their job, it's probably because they own the business. Is it ok with you for someone in their 60's to keep working?

Unless you're wanting to restrict voting based on a max age, people are going to vote for what they want. You can tell your parents that it wasn't just boomers who fell in line with trump, it was every generation. They probably only see the boomers because that's who they hang around with. The expectations aren't different. Even 1950s style starter homes are largely out of reach for younger adults. Same with education. Kids come out of school with insane debt now. Used cars are hyper expensive. And jobs are way harder to get. Meanwhile younger people are more educated than Boomers and Gen Xers yet are working to rent.

I'm glad you help your kids out. A lot of Boomers don't.
