Penalizing LSU for violating conference bylaws is a protected form of internal organizational expression & governance, rather than a defiance of the law.

The league claims it has a constitutional right not to be forced to associate its brand, logos, and championships with conduct its members have explicitly voted to condemn.

Like I said I'm no attorney & could be way off, but seems sensible to me. I can't stand LSU though so I could be looking thru biased lens.
As the SEC pointed out in its brief yesterday, the Lousiana Supreme Court has held this exact same way in multiple cases, some involving the NCAA.

But its Louisiana....case precedent only means what they want it to mean.

Pretty sure espn would put this boycotting games nonsense to an end real quick. Not gonna happen.
It's time to take ESPN down a notch too. They are the main reason all this crap is happening.

Not so sure. Could you imagine how many people would tune in to watch a team walk back off the field leaving LSU alone. Heck, I might even buy tickets for that fiasco.

Well they’re paying for everything. No games & your pay is gonna get cut. And I don’t see how they have anything to do with the no 5th year for one class of kids & current lawsuits going on.

Greedy agents are a huge part of this problem also. They are now making $ off HS and College athletes and don’t care who or what it hurts!

So once LSU plays them and then the federal courts decide in favor of the SEC, what happens?

Supposedly, the SEC has the right to discipline LSU. Will that happen? How far would it go? Kicked out?

The Honorable Edward Orgeron of the 17th District Court of the Parish of Rougarou has reached his decision after careful deliberation. Go Tigahs.

LSU is not getting kicked out. As soon as the Federal Court provides any indication the SEC might win, the players will be removed from LSU's roster and the school will say its sorry.

All is forgiven. The best part of breaking up is making up.

Regardless of how the courts rule, nothing will happen. Either the players will play under a valid court order both LSU & SEC will abide by. Or they won’t play under a valid court order both LSU & SEC will abide by. A month from now this will be forgotten. Maybe a week from now.

This is similar to the Big 12 argument with TX Tech. Same with the Boyscouts.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2000 that a private organization cannot be compelled by the government or state actors to accept a member if that person's presence significantly impairs the group's ability to express its internal values.

Is this commercial regulations rather than protected expressive speech? Is the SEC a ideological or moral organization, or a multi-billion-dollar commercial sports enterprise?

To me this is bigger than just eligibility & could change the landscape of college sports.
