Seriously, Beam wasn’t available? I used to drink nasty heaven hill vodka by the gallon in high school. I’m still hung over from it.
If we all do our part and drink more I really think we can turn the company around by ChristmasBeam is crying poverty right now. If you want that sponsorship than pony up and start drinking more.

Huh? Heaven Hill makes some of the best bourbon on the market. The 22 year old is everyone’s whiskey of the year. It’s unbelievable. Nobody drinks their vodka.Seriously, Beam wasn’t available? I used to drink nasty heaven hill vodka by the gallon in high school. I’m still hung over from it.
I feel like all the Bookers I bought in the past, they should be just fine.Beam is crying poverty right now. If you want that sponsorship than pony up and start drinking more.
Oh really? I admit I know nothing about it. I just have heaven hill vodka imprinted in my brain from back in the day. I know Elijah Craig is damn good.Huh? The 22 that just released is sooooooo good. My HH take is this, if you like BiB stuff...they do it better than anyone across the board. All the way from JTS Brown up to Old Fitz. Not one of them is bad, and you can find one at about every price point imaginable.Huh? Heaven Hill makes some of the best bourbon on the market. The 22 year old is everyone’s whiskey of the year. I know they are. That’s why I asked about it. All good homie. I didn’t take offense. I don’t know a lot about bourbon other than I know I love it. I just have HH associated with cheap vodka man. Admittedly I was late to the party. Only started about 10 yrs ago back when I just turned 40. Have continued to develop tastes and likes. Like everyone else, got caught up in the BT craze and chased their stuff for a while. But honestly, there's so much other good stuff on the market now I don't really mess with them much anymore. WFP and OWA are still high on my list, as is EHTBP...but I'm not spending the crazy secondary money for them anymore. It's loosed up a BIT here in MO, but they're still hard to find. Some of WT's stuff is just as good or better and easy to get for SRP.I love watching dudes talk about bourbon. Makes me have hope for the future.

HH is the motherload of GREAT brands, IMHO. JTS Brown, HH (duh), Old Fitz, McKenna, EC, Bernheim (one of the best wheaters out there), EW (their 10 yr is out of this world for the price), Rittenhouse...their entire lineup has great offerings at great prices.I know they are. Forgot Larceny on my list! Their BP is one of my favs. Pretty sure Augusta sources from HH for their Buckners releases too.Evan Williams

Shoot, Beam's Bonded is one of the best bourbons out there and its less than $20They know most of their fanbase can't afford Beam.
Not a drinker but my friends dad loved burbon. He always loved Bookers. I remember it came in a wood box. Not sure the cost. I think back around 2001 it was about $80. You can get some Blanton’s single barrel for around $200. Also Buffalo trace and similar makers have 15 to 20 year old bottles around that price range. I’m sure the real drinkers can fill you in.Ok…I’ve really enjoyed reading this thread as I am 1) not a bourbon connoisseur and 2) looking to purchase a top shelf bourbon gift for someone who is truly an aficionado.
Not wanting to spend in the Pappy arena, but something in the $200-$300-ish range.
I know this is a highly subjective question but I’m interested in knowing what brand you would appreciate as a fine gift.
Thanks to all in advance.

It's almost hard to answer as it really depend on their taste. Personally, I like the proofed up stuff. Think uncut/unfiltered. Some other guys, spending that much, would go for an Elijah Craig 15 or 18 yr. Just not my jam to have THAT much oak in the flavor profile. It's why I'm not a HUGE fan of the older Pappys bottles.Ok…I’ve really enjoyed reading this thread as I am 1) not a bourbon connoisseur and 2) looking to purchase a top shelf bourbon gift for someone who is truly an aficionado.

Bookers can be had for $100 here in MO about anywhere now. Blanton's is less than $100 and you can find it if you look hard enough. Rather than Bookers, grab a Stagg release (like Bookers it's uncut/unfiltered and gets released 4X/yr) that's on the cheaper end. They can easily be had for between $200-300, even in the museum stores that charge insane prices. Not a drinker but my friends dad loved burbon. He always loved Bookers. Blanton's was created to be an affordable option and I remember buying it for $30. Agree it’s an unfair question with a really wide landscape of answers but your response is helpful. Appreciate it Eagles. It's almost hard to answer as it really depend on their taste. If they are like me...the two that immediately come to mind that you could probably get your hands on are the Augusta Buckners 13 yr and EHT Barrel Proof. I think you could still find the Buckners in stores, the EHTBP you're going to have to pay secondary. Both could be had for $250ish.
If they like the older aged statements/proofed down stuff...Weller 12 is REALLY good and you could probably get two bottles for that amount. EC15 or EC18 is awfully good according to my buddies that like the extreme aged spirits.
THC is my only buzz now that I don't drink but it is in no way the same buzz. You guys need to get with us young folks and drink THC beverages. same buzz no hangover . Day of bourbon is over .

I was looking as some Blanton’s on some online stores. They had a couple different ones ranging from $100-$200. I guess some limited editions or something. Have you ever tried Woodford double double oaked? Seems to be good reviews around the $200 price range.Bookers can be had for $100 here in MO about anywhere now. Wasn't Dupont Manual in Louisville was it?Seriously, Beam wasn’t available? I used to drink nasty heaven hill vodka by the gallon in high school. I’m still hung over from it.
I have a couple sitting around. Honestly I don't like it that much. Anytime! I love chewing the fat about it. There's so much good stuff out there too. Where I live there's a local store that does a bottle share on Friday nights. All these dudes that just love it bring in some super cool stuff and just share. They'll almost get offended if you're bashful about getting a pour of what they brought, no matter how expensive or rare it is. I've gotten to try some pretty cool stuff there.Agree it’s an unfair question with a really wide landscape of answers but your response is helpful. Appreciate it Eagles.
They taste awful from my experiences. Plus, with age comes small bladders. A couple ounces is all I need. If I drink 12 ounces before bed I'm up three times during the night. You guys need to get with us young folks and drink THC beverages. same buzz no hangover . Day of bourbon is over .

I laughed so hard at this so I wouldn't cry. Accurate. The Athletic Department had a choice to work long, hard and intelligently to put a product on the basketball court that Kentucky fans would embrace with great pride and enthusiasm -- or figure out a way to encourage the fans to get so drunk that they didn't notice...
Straight From The Barrel (uncut/unfiltered, not watered down), Gold (higher proof, but not uncut), Red (Asian release, I think)...are the typical "special" offerings. They can get pretty pricey. The normal 90 proof stuff is still under $100 and pretty easy to nab if you have your spots.I was looking as some Blanton’s on some online stores. I do a lot of that in the summer too. Costco's cristilino is about as good of a dollar for dollar purchase as a person can make, IMHO. I also like the earthiness of a good blanco on the rocks in the summer. Plus at 20-30/bottle I don't feel bad about watering it down.I have 3 go to bourbons:
Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond
Eagle Rare 10
Weller Special Reserve
fancier stuff I like E H Taylor, Weller Antique, Eagle Rare 15, Frank August, Blantons, Russel Reserve 15
Heaven Hill BiB though is fantastic. It was a rare find 3 years ago up here in Ohio but for last 3 years it’s been 50 and easy to find
Haven’t touched Bourbon in a while though as during spring and summer I’m a tequila man. Love a good cristallino anejo on the rocks or a tequila old fashioned. Clase Azul, Komos, Courazon, and Herraduro are my usual go to’s there
