Admittedly I was late to the party. Only started about 10 yrs ago back when I just turned 40. Have continued to develop tastes and likes. Like everyone else, got caught up in the BT craze and chased their stuff for a while. But honestly, there's so much other good stuff on the market now I don't really mess with them much anymore. WFP and OWA are still high on my list, as is EHTBP...but I'm not spending the crazy secondary money for them anymore. It's loosed up a BIT here in MO, but they're still hard to find. Some of WT's stuff is just as good or better and easy to get for SRP.

HH is the motherload of GREAT brands, IMHO. JTS Brown, HH (duh), Old Fitz, McKenna, EC, Bernheim (one of the best wheaters out there), EW (their 10 yr is out of this world for the price), Rittenhouse...their entire lineup has great offerings at great prices.

Not wanting to spend in the Pappy arena, but something in the $200-$300-ish range.
I know this is a highly subjective question but I’m interested in knowing what brand you would appreciate as a fine gift.

Not a drinker but my friends dad loved burbon. He always loved Bookers. I remember it came in a wood box. Not sure the cost. I think back around 2001 it was about $80. You can get some Blanton’s single barrel for around $200. Also Buffalo trace and similar makers have 15 to 20 year old bottles around that price range. I’m sure the real drinkers can fill you in.

It's almost hard to answer as it really depend on their taste. Personally, I like the proofed up stuff. Think uncut/unfiltered. Some other guys, spending that much, would go for an Elijah Craig 15 or 18 yr. Just not my jam to have THAT much oak in the flavor profile. It's why I'm not a HUGE fan of the older Pappys bottles.

If they are like me...the two that immediately come to mind that you could probably get your hands on are the Augusta Buckners 13 yr and EHT Barrel Proof. I think you could still find the Buckners in stores, the EHTBP you're going to have to pay secondary. Both could be had for $250ish.

If they like the older aged statements/proofed down stuff...Weller 12 is REALLY good and you could probably get two bottles for that amount. EC15 or EC18 is awfully good according to my buddies that like the extreme aged spirits.

I was looking as some Blanton’s on some online stores. They had a couple different ones ranging from $100-$200. I guess some limited editions or something. Have you ever tried Woodford double double oaked? Seems to be good reviews around the $200 price range.

Anytime! I love chewing the fat about it. There's so much good stuff out there too. Where I live there's a local store that does a bottle share on Friday nights. All these dudes that just love it bring in some super cool stuff and just share. They'll almost get offended if you're bashful about getting a pour of what they brought, no matter how expensive or rare it is. I've gotten to try some pretty cool stuff there.

They taste awful from my experiences. Plus, with age comes small bladders. A couple ounces is all I need. If I drink 12 ounces before bed I'm up three times during the night.

Straight From The Barrel (uncut/unfiltered, not watered down), Gold (higher proof, but not uncut), Red (Asian release, I think)...are the typical "special" offerings. They can get pretty pricey. The normal 90 proof stuff is still under $100 and pretty easy to nab if you have your spots.

I do a lot of that in the summer too. Costco's cristilino is about as good of a dollar for dollar purchase as a person can make, IMHO. I also like the earthiness of a good blanco on the rocks in the summer. Plus at 20-30/bottle I don't feel bad about watering it down.

That RR15 is one of my favs of the super aged stuff. It's popular here in MO. I'm on a local FB raffle page and those spots always fill quickly when someone is moving one.
