Supposedly "the plan" according to Stewie and Phee when they started this sideshow was to allow players to make real money without having to go overseas to get paid. All the factors mentioned will make it hard to continue, plus whatever networks or entities that are funding it probably aren't getting the return they'd hoped for.

Gray has only won titles because she plays with 4xMVP Aja Wilson.
Bird had 3xMVP Lauren Jackson and then 2xMVP Breanna Stewart as teammates during her title seasons.
Whalen had 1xMVP Maya Moore on her team all four title years and 1xMVP Sylvia Folwes for one championship.
You’d think that point guards that are playing with that kind of talent could average more than 5 or 6 assists per game. I mean feeding the best players so that they score is what a PG is supposed to do to win games. I get not chasing points, but the assist numbers being mediocre with that talent around them is mind boggling.
None of them were the best player on their title teams. If Clark wins a title, it will be because she drags them there. As much as people talk about Mitchell this season, she scores and doesn’t do a whole lot else. That isn’t someone that is going to win MVP when another player in the league scores more and also contributes rebounding and defense. Boston is an all star, but won’t ever be an MVP candidate either. Both of those players feast on offense this season because of the defensive pressure against Clark and the passes received from Clark.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when Clark can feed someone that can actually finish shots like Aja, Steward, or Collier at FIBA. If Clark got an actual 25-30 minutes per game she could be up around 12 or more assists per game.
So CC is given credit for their scoring, yet they both score more w/ higher FG %s in games that CC doesn't play.
Please explain that to me.

Seemed pretty obvious that without Clarks scoring (she's also THIRD in the league in points/GM) they'd have to take more shots, and may get in more of a rythem. Kind of like the games Boston didn't play both Mitchell and Clark took on more of the offense. I certainly never give Clark all the credit for Mitchell's scoring. She has serious game, and that's not debatable. Still not only does Clark being in the game, open the floor more for Mitchell with the attention that MUST be paid to Clark, she has also benefitted having a facillitator who can get her the ball in tight windows on those back door cuts and her runs in transition. Its obvious that both players are finding great success feeding off each other. Its also obvious that Clarks presence has allowed Mitchell to elevate her game to an even higher level that it was three years ago.
Doesn't make much sense and you have to wonder if more of the true STARS in the game don't play how they keep selling this. Stewie isn't getting younger. Does Phee play this year. Clarks NEVER going to play in that league. Miles? As we mentioned the league continues to expand the season, and the bigger money will go to the top players. I wonder what the rotations will look like. Will they start the best player at each position or will they keep combinations together that have played together in the past, like gray, Wilson, young, and plum. Based on merit, I would start Wilson, cc, Paige, young, and Stewart. But I could see them starting gray, young, plum, Wilson, Stewart.
Plum didn't play the last 2 games, so not even sure about her availability. I like CC/Paige as almost a package deal...start them or bring them off the bench together...start to get that cohesiveness for the 28 Olympics, if CC makes it.*

CC and Paige play very well off each other. It will be nice not to see some of the "old guard" like DT and Greiner on these teams, just there to obtain yet another medal.

Depends…is it most valuable to their team or most valuable to the league? Clark is far more valuable to the league than Wilson. As far as team, it’s a toss up.
And there will never be a vote that’s not close with Clark involved…they’ll prop anyone else up to make it close.
Yet defenses still don’t defend her like they do Clark.
Which she'll probably be regretting by the second year when she's been playing almost non stop for two years, and trying to get rest AND avoid injury.
Do they call traveling in that league because if they do, Miles will have a tough time.
Wilson draws plenty of attention. Certainly most guards don't get picked up or double/tripled teamed like Clark does. The thing that skews stuff like 3pt% and so then also Efg% is players like Wilson or Boston who are post players generally shoot threes when they're wide open because of rotation of the defense , so these are clean looks. Clark is rarely ever unguarded out front, and has to create her own space by her ball handling skill , and step back/side step to create space. Totally different level of difficulty on that shot. Even when she drives the lane she's usually met by a second defender.
She's been fairly inconsistent this season. Like you said imagine her injury has played a part.
The games I watch the Aces, I am shocked at how loose teams are when guarding Wilson. The so called best player in the world has far more freedom of movement than the 11th best guard, and if someone does get close to her, it’s a foul. If Clark is not the best player in the league, then every coach should be fired for incompetence for focusing on her so much.
I said the same thing when I watched a couple of games of both Miles and Paige and the freedom they had. Certainly from the perspective of my black and gold colored glasses, but it sure looked different.
I've never been overly impressed with her. This season it's not hard to argue New York might be better with her on the bench.
Scoring more is easy to explain, they both have to take on more of the workload without one of the big scorers on the team. Scottie Pippen’s scoring average jumped 3.4pts/game, Horace Grant’s jumped 1.9, and BJ Armstrong’s jumped 2.5 from 1993 to 1994. According to you that must mean that the team was better off without Jordan.
Mitchell’s career average was 16.35 pts/game before Clark was drafted. And her career FG% was 41.6(worse than Clark’s career % so far). Boston’s rookie year was 14.5 pts/game and led the league in FG% at 57.8. Note that she only shot a 3pt attempt every 4th game.
Since Clark has joined the team Mitchell is now averaging 21.4 pts/game and shooting 48% the past three seasons. 25 and 51.3% alone this season. Boston is averaging 15.24 pts/game, her shooting is down because she’s taking a lot more 3pt shots instead of layups.
So I’ll challenge you, please explain why both of those all star players have seen their numbers increase since Clark joined the team? Mitchell has seen her numbers significantly increase. She was already 6 full seasons into her career before Clark joined the team, so it isn’t like she was still learning how the WNBA worked.

When Clark was in college, Sabrina was the one many compared her to. Her streak of double/doubles was the major point. I did notice that while I don't believe Sabrina ever scored 25pts in a game with more then 10 assists against any ranked teams, CC22 routinely elevated her game against the very best competition. Both during the regular season against highly ranked teams like OSU, and Indiana, and her exploits in the NCAA tournament showed her ability to rise to the challenge against the very best. Weird comment. Obtaining the medal is the goal of every player on the team no matter age or prior experience.
Caitlin has a +6.8 NRTG rating. In your scenario, she'd have a -6.0 rating. Any plus NET (NRTG) score means the team is doing better with player X on the court.
Net Rating (NRtg)
Net rating is simply offensive rating minus defensive rating. A positive net rating means a team is outscoring its opponents on a per-possession basis.

You've brought up the point about playing for other teams and I was curious as well, so I asked someone in a WNBA front office this AM about the restrictions on playing overseas and for Unrivaled. They said it wasn't really a priority this time around. Said the W is looking at it this way:
1) WNBA wants to let the salaries do much of the work
2) As we've discussed the expanding schedule will start to dissuade players from playing

Cmon. you know what I mean. Several of "the old guard" were either injured or played hardly at all in the games. One of the women on the roster had been out pretty much the entire season before the Olympics. What was Taurasi and Griners contribution other then to say "she's a 6 time gold medal winner". Pretty sure they could have filled the roster quite nicely with a few younger players and still won the gold. Several of DT's former team mates had been asking her why she was still playing at 42. Wouldn't really surprise me if being the only female basketball player to have 6 gold medals was part of that.
