Not really. The SEC can withhold checks and deem you ineligible for championships so doubt schools will fight it. Not worth it over a couple of players.
Yeah. I actually don’t want to trump the SEC on this one. Everything about this just makes me feel dirty.

Unless they take them to court in Oktibbeha County Miss. All bets are off. Courts have gone crazy over college football.
Yep. LSU will play all of their guys & nothing will happen. And we’ll back down & abandon our 2 players. It’s the Mississippi State way.
Sylla signed with the CFL, and Manning signed with the IFL, so they are prohibited under the new rule.
But they can still sue and seek an injunction. Im opposed to them playing....but if other SEC schools refuse to abide by the new rule, then I hope State let's them play.

Y’all talk big and bad all you want but that sounds like a real easy way to get the season all screwed up over two players.
I know I'm probably too pessimistic, but this season will be screwed up if and when we play SEC teams. This could be a cool way of having an undefeated season.**
If they are filing suit now, they will probably name the SEC and possibly MSU as defendants. Would be difficult for the SEC to hammer MSU after the fact financially if they were subject to an injunction. Certainly would be easy to require them to forfeit games but if we have to forfeit 6 wins instead of keeping 3 wins, I’m fine with that trade off.

Ineligible for championships? Sure, but we’ve already self-imposed that penalty for about the last 130 years or so, anyways.
Can't wait to hear from Kiffin on this. Rousse and Ausberry had to fly back to Baton Rouge last night for Skip Bertman's memorial. Wonder if they had a chat with Kiffin before returning to Birmingham?
ETA: I also wonder how Gov. Tate feels about his handpicked Prez and AD going against Kiffin on this?

All 16 presidents signed the League Agreement. Keenum’s signature says he will not acquiesce! He would be a bigger dumbass than I already think!
The funniest part is that even if LSU doesn’t play all these NFL guys I would bet they still have to pay them
If we assume the judge is a blatant LSU supporter, that would put him in a bind. The players absolutely should demand whatever money they were promised.
Until I see a crying attorney, I won't like our chances.
Possible that the SEC will in some way chip in, in some situations. Gotta get this stuff cleared out.

Manning played in the IFL Indoor Pro league and participated in Atlanta Falcons camp. He is out for playing in the Pro League, this is non-negotiable. SEC even said they would not be allowed to play in SEC games either. That is a hard line NO for me.
Sylla ? I have not seen where he did anything yet that rules him out. I still think he may have a shot at coming back. Between the two positions, I would think we needed Sylla worse as he was the 2nd leading sack leader and leading tackles for loss guy we had last year. I do not think he would be a starter this year but he would be nice depth to have.
Correction, Sylla signed a contract with the CFL and was released..... Those guys are done and should be.
If the SEC won't even let us play SEC games with them on the team, that is some pretty serious stuff. Plus hold all our TV Monies
You may as well shut the program down for a year and take the death penalty for two guys that have not been with the team but a couple weeks. I would have loved to have had them but I hope none of these guys from any team get to play. They are taking spots from HS guys coming up. They had their shot and it's passed.

I still think the SEC & Big Ten knew about this before the LSU lawsuit. They had a plan all along to use this to try and force the Bill through congress. They even made a statement about congress needing to make this happen.
I also think they had a a plan ready to stop the players from coming back from the pro ranks by withholding money and championships. All SEC and Big Ten schools have signed alliances with their conferences which is binding if they want to play in anything conference affiliated and must abide by their rules.

Both put on PRO League helmets and Manning even played in the IFL for Orlando and participated in Atlanta camps. I looked up where Sylla and Sneh were cut from Montreal in the CFL so they did do those things.
I kinda floated that idea here earlier. Why did the NCAA pass this new rule, exclude the class of '22 knowing it would trigger lawsuits, and then stick to their hardline plan? Did it have something to do with getting the Sports Act passed?
OTOH, there is a less nefarious reason for what the NCAA did...and they are racking up legal wins on appeal. So far these injunctions have been stayed in Colorado, Ohio, New Jersey, and Tennessee, greatly reducing the number of players coming back to school.
Yeah, I believe all players should get this sorted in February and then decide if they are going pro or not. Once you get drafted, then it is a no for college sports. If you don't get drafted, if you sign a FA deal, then you are out. If you don't sign a FA deal and you have eligibility, then you should be able to return. If you get a paycheck from an NFL team for being a player, you college career should be over.
That's all good in principle, but they should make a one time exception for the class of 2022 players who made financial decisions based on their college careers being over, only to find out later that the court system had changed the rules.
Maybe draw the line at actually playing in an NFL game, but getting cut from whatever the IFL is isn't the same thing.
