Willing to bet Lynch is getting more than $15k. Public school coaches are educators first, for the most part. Morris coach is the Assistant Principal. Yet again, private schools can go find a coach whereas for the vadt majority of public schools they need to find someone already in the building.
There are privates that do. Also, keep in mind that very little of this compensation is for coaching.
FWIW, Coach Jaworski at JCA is a full time teacher along with being the head football coach.
I will preface this by saying not all; but over the years private schools have figured out they are more nimble when it comes to coaching hires and have used that to their advantage. Nothing wrong with it at all, all within the rules but having less "red tape" is an advantage. Just like pensions are an advantage for public school HC.
The issue is far from resolved. ESL is a total outlier and is basically operating like a private institution.
I love LWE, but their beating BR settles nothing; the talent levels private schools are bringing in from all over give privates a massive advantage. and no, all these kids are not paying tuition out of their families' pockets.
The issue will continue to worsen as talent disparities grow. I'm not against private schools; I went to BR, but saying there are no significant advantages over public schools is nuts. And I'm not even talking about $ and resources available to privates vs most publics.
Over time, this will just erode the playoffs, where we'll see privates winning every year.
I'd be for a public playoff and private playoff, then have the winners play each other.

I forgot all private school head coaches are personal trainers out here just trying to make it rich, profiting off the wealthy families willing to submit their child to the program. Then they go home to their 3.1 million dollar mansions, eat caviar straight from the tin as a snack, smack a glass of Leroy Musigny Grand Cru and off to bed by 7pm because the early bird still get them worms. Private school coaches can get “alumni” bonuses that also can’t be tracked except by what’s claimed on taxes. No one is going to ask or say anything. Kinda like the “alumni donor for tuition”

No athletic department worth their salt hires a new head football coach solely from their current employee base.
That's exactly what happens. Good luck finding an outside coach willing to basically work a full time job for $15k. Thorson at Morris has been the head coach since 2010, I'd say he's in his early to mid 40's now. So you're saying they saw this kid in his 20's and said this is our future football coach, let's create a teaching position for him? Morris has had 3 coaches over the last 50 years. Darlington was a teacher at least a year or two before he started coaching. Dergo played under Darlington and was a special education teacher and freshman coach before taking over as varsity coach.
Inserra at Maine South had been there since 2001 and I'd guess he's in his 50's, so same situation, he started coaching in his 20's as a kid. Piron at Batavia is also an educator first. Same with Reents at Wilmington.
They're public schools, the information is publicly available. The stipend for a head football coach is peanuts. It always makes me laugh every offseason when people talk about coaching searches for public schools like it's college or the NFL. These coaches come from within the teachers in house for the vast majority of public schools. You think tax payers would be OK with a large sum of their tax dollars going to pay football coaches???

I’m not saying they aren’t educators first, most are. I’m saying that hiring internally isn’t the highest priority.
Sounds like you’re saying hiring internally is a higher priority than hiring the best candidate.
But hiring internally is a necessity. Public schools don't have the luxury of seeking out a football coach, they have to work with what they have. Again, this info is publicly available and can be found online to back me up.
